As a social media manager, I’d be lying if I said the rise of AI doesn’t make me a little nervous. Marketing and social media are two fields people love to say will be overtaken by AI—and I get it. Why would you pay a person to write and design content when AI can do it faster, cheaper, and maybe even better?

But here’s the thing… social media is, at its core, social. And that’s where AI just can’t compete. Here’s why investing in people will always win:

💡 Authenticity Can’t Be Automated – AI can mimic, but it can’t feel. People connect with people, not perfectly structured sentences with no real voice.
🎨 Creativity is More Than Patterns – AI pulls from what already exists. Humans innovate, create trends, and tell stories in ways that algorithms can’t predict.
❤️ Empathy Wins Every Time – A real person understands your mission, your audience, and how to craft messaging that resonates beyond just engagement metrics.
📢 Community is Built, Not Programmed – Social media isn’t just about posting. It’s about fostering relationships, responding with nuance, and truly listening—things AI struggles with.

So, while AI is an amazing tool (I use it too!), it’s just that—a tool. At the end of the day, the heart and strategy behind your content still needs a human touch. And that’s where I come in. 😉

What are your thoughts on AI in marketing? Exciting? Terrifying? A little of both? Let’s chat in the comments! ⬇️

🌟 Introducing: Content for a Cause 🌟

Social media has the power to shape narratives, shift perspectives, and spark real change. But too often, we see its negative side—misinformation, division, and unrealistic standards. That’s why I started Planina Social—to help flip the script and use these platforms for good.

Content for a Cause is a new series where we highlight the people and organizations using social media to raise money, awareness, and support for the causes that matter most. Because when used with intention, social media isn’t just about likes and shares—it’s about impact.

✨ Meet Our First Feature: Baraa Bolat ✨

Baraa is an Austrian model, author, entrepreneur, and humanitarian who has turned her Instagram into a force for good. She’s actively raising awareness and funds for Syrian refugee families and orphaned children—and right now, she’s focused on supporting humanitarian relief in Gaza.

Through her fundraising efforts, she has already raised over $36,000 to provide food during Ramadan, delivering up to 4,000 meals daily and more than 120,000 meals per month to those in need.

This is what using social media for good looks like. This is why I do what I do.

🌍 Want to get involved? Follow Baraa (.bolat) to support her mission, donate, and share her story.

📢 Know someone using social media to create change? Drop their name in the comments—I’d love to feature them in an upcoming post! 💙"

Social media isn’t just about posting—it’s about creating connections, building trust, and driving real impact. 💙

Working with nonprofits to amplify their mission is why I do what I do, and hearing feedback like this makes it all worth it:

💬 "Working with Keely at Planina Social was the best decision we made for our non-profit organization. Keely put a plan together that created a consistent message for our brand. She had incredible insights into the best practices to help put our non-profit's social media campaign on a new level. We gained new followers and more traffic to our social media platforms, which resulted in more donations. I highly recommend Keely and Planina Social!"

In a digital landscape where only a few media conglomerates dominate, it's natural to feel hesitant about relying solely on mainstream social media platforms. So, if you're looking to diversify your online presence, here are some alternative platforms to consider:

🌤 Bluesky – A decentralized platform that offers an X (Twitter)-like experience without the algorithmic chaos. It’s great for open conversations and community-driven discussions.

🎧 Discord – More than just a gamer’s chat room, Discord is a powerhouse for building engaged, niche communities. With customizable servers, voice chats, and topic-specific channels, it’s a great space for deep conversations and strong community connections.

📌 Pinterest – Think of it as a visual search engine rather than a social network. If your nonprofit thrives on storytelling, inspiration, or educational content, Pinterest is a great way to get your message in front of an audience actively looking for ideas.

💼 LinkedIn – Not just for job seekers! LinkedIn has become a hub for thought leadership, industry networking, and professional storytelling. If you’re an organization looking to connect with partners, donors, or like-minded professionals, LinkedIn is worth investing in.

Each of these platforms offers a unique way to expand your reach and connect with your audience beyond the usual social media landscape. Have you explored any of them? Let me know in the comments! ⬇️

Does this sound familiar?

💭 "We knew fundraising through social media would be tough, and at this point, we just can’t justify the cost."

I hear this all the time, and I get it. When every dollar matters, investing in social media feels like a gamble. There’s no instant guarantee that the effort (or budget) you put in will directly translate into donations. But here’s the thing—social media isn’t just about raising money. It’s about raising awareness, trust, and long-term support so that when it is time to ask for donations, your audience is already invested in your mission.

That’s where Planina Social comes in. I take care of the strategy, content, engagement, and analytics—so you don’t have to. Every post works together to bring people from casual followers to dedicated supporters, all while sounding just like you.

Let’s build something that lasts. Ready to grow your impact without doing it all yourself? Let’s chat!

Let’s be real—2025 hasn’t exactly started on the positive note we all hoped for. With so much uncertainty, especially in the nonprofit sector, the weight of unpredictability can feel overwhelming. When things are out of our control, it’s hard not to push ourselves through stress without stopping to take a break and check in with how we are actually doing.

So, today, take a moment. What do you need? A deep breath? A moment of quiet? A break from the news? A fresh strategy to handle stress? Whatever it is, give yourself permission to take it.

Nonprofit work is demanding, and the world isn’t making it any easier. But we’re in this together. 💙

Let me know in the comments—what are you prioritizing for yourself today?

This week I am so excited to welcome Silver Lining Montana to the Planina Social family! 💙

Silver Lining Montana, is a foundation dedicated to supporting women who have faced breast cancer, helping them find strength, community, and healing. Their mission is deeply personal—not just for the many they serve but for so many of us who have seen loved ones impacted by this disease, myself included.

It is an honor to help share their story, amplify their impact, and ensure more women know they are not alone. I am so excited for this partnership and for what’s ahead (especially Paddle Palooza)!

Friendly reminder: social media is so much more than just posting. It has a huge impact on a consumer's decisions.

Whether you're a local business, nonprofit, or impact organization, you have to sell yourself to reach your goals. and social media can help you do just that.

🌟 Feeling stressed? Here are 3 things you can do in under an hour to minimize it:

🧘‍♀️ Meditate: Close your eyes, breathe in, and pretend you didn’t forget to respond to emails.
🏃‍♂️ Exercise: Whether it’s yoga, a dance party in your kitchen, or running away from your responsibilities (temporarily), movement is magic.
📱 Outsource Your Social Media: Let a pro handle your posts so you can stop panicking about captions and start relaxing...or at least trying to.

Life’s too short to stress about everything—so pick one of these and start living your best (slightly less frazzled) life! 😅

Which one will be your go-to this year?
