We just celebrated Elliās 2 year adoption anniversary this week.
She turned 3 in June.
But I remember 4 years ago when Graceyn started hinting that she wanted a younger sibling. Saying that we should look into fostering another kiddo. By the time Christmas came along she was begging Santa for a little sister or a little brother. Of course, we had no idea at that time that Ellinor was already growing in their birth momās belly.
Ellinor had already been spoken into existence by our Great Creator and He put that connection into Gracie and that sweet, innocent girl listened.
Thatās the magnificent power of a God who loves. So many things could have changed the trajectory of these girls being raised together, even my own stubbornness.
But, God!
Raising these girls isnāt easy. They have so much trauma and genetic predispositions that sometimes we feel like weāre losing our minds in behaviors, but we try so hard not to focus on all of that. Gathering these photos was more a step of God reminding me that His plan is in action.
All four of the girls are our ministry and our mission. They are what God had planned for our family all along.
If I could help people see one simple thing, itās that the journey of fostering and adopting doesnāt stop after the adoption ceremony. Thatās only the beginning. And itās not an easy journey to raise a child that comes with a lot of hurt. Hurt that you donāt even see or know until it randomly pops up as they get older. (The teen years are intense yaāll).
So, my friends, I leave you today with a photo of each of these girls at age 3. Yes, the genetics are strong with them, but donāt forget that God is bigger than DNA and He has fortified these girls to be sisters for life. And by His grace, they get to grow together and share life together.
