IT'S FINAL, SQUARE GETS APPROVAL FOR $4.5 MILLION I-20 DISTRICT BACKED PROJECT; FIRST FOR BLACKS: History was made in Monroe Tuesday night when the I-20 Economic Development Corporation Board voted 4-0 to finalize a $4.5M infrastructure agreement for Drew Square Estates.

In November, the board voted to draw up the agreement, which was historic in itself, but Tuesday night's vote sealed the deal.

This marks the district’s first partnership with a Black-owned venture in its 27-year history!

Led by Alven Square and developed by Charles Theus, the contract with DZE, Inc. provides funding for essential public works such as roads and drainage along the I-20 corridor. Square also owns Kravins on Winnsboro Road. Square is the head of DZE, Inc.

This project signals a new era of inclusive investment and equitable growth that includes rather than excludes African Americans. 📈
