Another Cover Reveal! This one is for Katy Farber’s young adult novel in verse, “What If It Wasn’t My Fault,” releasing in April. It was designed by Eddie Vincent of ENC Graphic Services with art direction by Publisher Samantha Kolber. The girl on the cover represents the main character, Indie, a 17-year-old who finds herself in a situation that changes her sense of self, safety, and community.

Congratulations to the Patterson Holiday Bookstore Bonus Recipients! Lovely to see six Vermont booksellers from Bear Pond Books, Bridgeside Books, Northshire Bookstore, Norwich Bookstore, Phoenix Books Essex & Burlington, and Vermont Book Shop on this list! Every year, author James Patterson donates a hefty bonus to American Booksellers Association booksellers to show appreciation for all they do, from helping readers get the right books to creating a welcoming literary community for all.

This year we published 14 books, pictured here with publisher Samantha Kolber, and one audiobook by Toussaint St. Negritude (not pictured but available everywhere audiobooks are sold). We’re looking forward to 2026 and beyond and we’re so grateful for our readers and booksellers who keep showing us our stories are worth sharing.

Cover Reveal! Sally Stetson of Sally Stetson Design in Stowe, Vermont designed this cover for Erika Nichols-Frazer’s short story collection, “No One Will Ever Hear You,” releasing next fall. The painting, an original acrylic on paper titled “Onward,” matches the vibe of the twenty-three short stories that explore themes of loss, strength, hope, and rage.

Help us welcome Erika Nichols-Frazer to Rootstock Publishing! Erika is the author of the memoir “Feed Me: A Story of Food, Love and Mental Illness” (Casper Press, 2022) and the poetry collection, “Staring Too Closely” (Main Street Rag Publishing Company, 2023). She has been editor of several anthologies, including the mental health recovery anthology, A Tether to This World. She has published more than thirty short stories, essays, and poems in literary journals such as River Teeth’s Beautiful Things, Gone Lawn, Emerge Literary Journal, Burningword Literary Journal, Lunate, HuffPost, and others. Nichols-Frazer is a former journalist and freelance writer; dozens of her articles have appeared in publications across Vermont, New England, and the US. She also owns Good Wolf Literary Services and previously worked as a developmental editor for New Degree Press. She has spoken publicly about writing and mental health and taught writing in a variety of settings. She currently works at Vermont State University and lives in central Vermont with her family and various animals.
