Three of the most iconic finishing stretches in Hawaii 🌺⛳️

Holes 13-15 at Poipu Bay Golf Course are pure pressure golf — ocean cliffs, trade winds, lava rock, and no room for mistakes. This stretch helped make Poipu Bay one of the most respected resort courses in the world.

From 1994–2006, Poipu Bay hosted the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, where the year’s major champions battled on Kauai’s coastline. Legends like Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Phil Mickelson, and Vijay Singh all took on these dramatic finishing holes with the Pacific crashing beside them.

Just finished a round at Brookside with , and we’re standing there scratching our heads because we played the exact same pins, yet had two completely different experiences. I’m thinking they were a breeze; he’s thinking they were an absolute nightmare.

It’s crazy how much ball placement and approach angle dictate your day. What looked like a simple uphill putt to me was a total minefield for him. Proof that you aren’t just playing the course—you’re playing your own specific version of it every single time you step up to the tee.

Stop aiming directly at the pin. ⛳️

I used to think attacking the flag was always the right move, but this approach changed my entire perspective on course management. It’s not just about distance; it’s about triangulation and playing the percentages.

The secret? It’s all about finding that “circle below the hole.” Unless the pin is in the perfect spot for a green-light special, I’m aiming for the safe zone, even if it means missing the green entirely. Putting from the fringe or chipping from the fairway is always better than dealing with a downhill putt that could slide right past the cup. It’s half science, half art, and entirely about leaving yourself an easier path to the hole.

Stop punishing yourself for aggressive play and start playing smarter. Your scores will thank you.
