📡 WmC COMMAND CENTER | SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2026 | 3:42 PM CDT
Alright South Louisiana, let's get into this mess.
Morgan City is sitting at 86° right now. Partly cloudy, humidity at 78%, southwest wind at 7 mph. Translation: step outside and immediately start questioning your life choices.
New Orleans is 88° and feels like 97°. Wind is calm too, so ain't even a breeze out there to lie to you and make you think it feels better.
Baton Rouge is at 87° with humidity running 76%. Calm wind. Just straight up standing in the damn heat.
Lafayette is 89° with a dew point of 75°. Yeah. That's that air you can feel sitting on your damn shoulders. Humid as hell and proud of it.
Tonight, everybody drops into the mid 70s, but don't let those numbers fool you. It ain't cooling off. It's just becoming nighttime soup. Morgan City and New Orleans could catch a stray shower, while Lafayette and Baton Rouge mostly stay quiet, sticky, and disrespectful.
Tomorrow, here comes the usual afternoon bu****it.
Morgan City tops out near 88° with scattered storms.
New Orleans hits 89° with scattered PM thunderstorms.
Baton Rouge reaches 90° with a heat index near 101°, and storms start becoming a problem after about 2 PM.
Lafayette gets up around 91° with that classic South Louisiana setup where you're sweating, looking at clouds, and wondering which neighborhood is about to get absolutely dumped on.
Some places will get rain.
Some places will get nothing.
Somebody will say, “It didn't even rain over here.”
Meanwhile, somebody five miles away is trying to figure out why their damn yard turned into a pond. 💀
🌊 MARINE
Atchafalaya Bay and the coastal waters are looking fairly tame with south winds around 5 to 10 knots and seas running 1 to 2 feet.
Just watch those scattered storm cells because conditions can go from “this ain't bad” to “yeah we should probably head back” real damn quick.
🚗 COMMUTE
Pavement is dry right now, but once those spotty water roaches start dropping during the afternoon rush, y'all already know what's coming.
US 90.
I 10.
Brake lights.
People suddenly discovering their vehicles came with hazard lights.
Everybody acting like this is the first damn time rain has ever fallen in Louisiana.
That's the setup.
Don't melt out there.
Always make your first move, your best move.
