Da Cajun Trading Card Convention

People always say there’s nothing to do here for kids and nothing for adults either.
Well for the 3rd time, here I come again solving that problem for ONE DAY ONLY.

April 11th
Patterson, Louisiana

This isn’t talk, this is action. I’m putting in the work, the planning, the stress, and the time to make something fun, positive, and community-driven happen right here at home.

Kids get something exciting.
Adults get something fun.
Collectors get their fix.
Newcomers get something different.

And the best part? This is for the community.

Just like the previous two events, I’m asking for the same thing: show up, support local, support effort.

If we want things to happen here, we’ve gotta back the people actually making them happen. April 11th — let’s go!

Da Cajun Trading Card Convention is bringing the card community together for a fun, family-friendly day of buying, selling, and trading! Vendors from across the region will offer Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: The Gathering, sports cards, plus toys, comics, and more.

Whether you’re a serious collector or just getting started, this event is designed to be affordable, welcoming, and exciting for everyone.

📍Location: Patterson Civic Center, Patterson, Louisiana- 116 Cotton Rd, Patterson, LA 70392

📅 Date: Saturday, April 11th

⏰ Time: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

💵 Admission: $5.00/Ages 5 and under are FREE**

Da Cajun Speaks- Promoting Events.

You ever notice how so many great events go unnoticed simply because they’re not promoted? Folks will spend months planning and organizing something— then post one flyer and call it a day. That’s not how promotion should work.

Promotion takes consistency and creativity. You’ve got to build excitement and keep the energy going. Talk about the people behind it, share the story, post updates, videos, and pictures that make people feel like they can’t miss it.

When I put on my two cook-offs, I promoted every single day for months in advance— flyers, videos, posts, stories, reminders — every way I could think of. And you know what? It paid off. We had crowds, teams, and energy because people felt the excitement before they even showed up.

I’ve seen too many good events with great potential fall flat because they didn’t get that same push. No follow-up, no hype, just silence after one post. You can’t expect support if you don’t give folks something to support.

Effective event promotion doesn’t just spread the word — it builds anticipation, drives engagement, and ensures your hard work reaches the audience it deserves. When promotion is done right, your event doesn’t just happen… it makes an impact.

Da Cajun Column: One Last Slice – Papa John’s in Morgan City Closing Next Wednesday.

It’s always a little sad when a familiar spot in town shuts its doors, and this week, we’re saying goodbye to one that’s been part of Morgan City for years. Papa John’s will officially close this coming Wednesday, confirmed by the manager.

Now, some might see it as “just another chain,” but our local Papa John’s was far from that. They were part of the community — always sponsoring church events, helping schools, and even giving away pizzas during times of need. When folks were struggling, Papa John’s showed up with warm boxes and big hearts.

So before they turn off the ovens for good, take a moment to stop by, grab your favorite pizza, and say thank you. Let’s show them the same support they’ve shown us all these years.

Because around here, community means more than just business — it’s about being there for one another, and Papa John’s did exactly that.

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the closing of Papa Johns in Morgan City. We have had a great run! We want to thank all of our amazing customers and businesses who have supported us throughout the years! We have had such a wonderful time serving all of you and will miss you all dearly! The store is going to try and stay open till Wednesday. Just depends on staffing.

Update: Aucoin's Hardware Auction Now Live

Following up on the recent report regarding the closure of Aucoin’s Hardware, an online auction is now underway for the remaining inventory and store items. Interested buyers can participate using the official auction link below.

Residents are reminded that Aucoin’s Hardware is permanently closed and should not visit the physical location. All transactions are being conducted online through the auction site.
