Summary:
The Burke County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in the search for a missing person.

On February 22, 2025, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office received a report that Kenneth “Kenny” Ray Phillips was missing. The reporting party stated that Mr. Phillips was last seen at his residence at 6802 Berea Church Road Ext., Connelly Springs, NC on February 20, 2025, at approximately 4:00 pm.

Mr. Phillips has been described as a white male approximately 5ft 8 inches tall and weighing approximately 180 lbs. with brown short length hair, grey “goatee” style facial hair and brown eyes. Mr. Phillips was last known to be wearing a grey in color sweatshirt and a black in color arm sling on his left arm. All other clothing is unknown at this time.

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of Burke County Emergency Management along with Burke County Rescue and Icard Township Fire / Rescue for several area searches that were conducted on February 22, and February 23, 2025. No signs of Mr. Phillips were located during these searches and his whereabouts remain unknown at this time. If anyone sees this person or has any information on his whereabouts, please contact the Burke County 911 Communications Center at 828-438-5500.

Due to the forecasted inclement weather, including below-freezing temperatures and potentially freezing roads, Wednesday, February 19th, will be an Inclement Weather Remote Learning Day per Policy Code 7550-AR, Section G.

Students should prepare to engage in remote learning activities. Teachers will provide necessary instructions and assignments through their usual platforms. Staff members should follow the guidelines outlined in the inclement weather procedures.
