The Case for Pushups

Pushing is a basic human movement. We push things all the time.

Pushups are a simple way to develop and maintain upper-body strength and functional ability. We can do them almost anywhere.

There are a lot of ways to do a pushup.

Floor pushups.
Knee pushups.
Stair pushups.
Wall pushups.

STairs can make the movement more accessible. The wall makes it even more accessible. These are modifications— to help us on our fitness journey.

We can also train that same basic pushing movement with things like the bench press or press machines in a gym.

There are options.

Make it more challenging as you get stronger. Modify it when you need to.

Let's find a way, to keep moving.

Try pushups 1–2 times per week and work on getting stronger.

Don't skip back day! 🔙🎒

A strong back supports good posture, helps with everyday activities like lifting, pulling, carrying, and is an important part of maintaining upper-body strength as we age.

You don't need a pull-up bar to start. Resistance band pull-aparts, archer pulls, dumbbell rows, lat pulldowns, and assisted pull-ups are all great ways to build a stronger back.

Keep showing back up!
