The real danger is not only whether AI in music is legal or illegal.

The real danger is who gets to decide that.

If the industry starts treating only major-approved or major-licensed AI tools as acceptable, independent creators could be pushed into a system where their music is only considered legitimate when it passes through tools, licenses, rules, and revenue structures controlled by the biggest players.

That does not necessarily mean majors automatically own your intellectual property.

But it could mean they control the gateway to distribution, monetization, recognition, and market access.

And when someone controls the gateway, they can control who is allowed to create, release, and get paid.

The most ironic part is that AI is not only inside platforms that generate full songs.

AI is already embedded in modern creative workflows: music software, mixing, mastering, stem separation, vocal correction, audio restoration, video editing, design, subtitles, translation, social platforms, and recommendation systems.

Even creators who do not want to make “AI music” may still use tools that contain AI-assisted processes without even realizing it.

So the real question should not be: “Is there any AI involved?”

The real questions should be:

What kind of AI was used?
At what stage?
For what purpose?
Was there human writing, direction, arrangement, production, and final creative control?
Were rights, consent, and credits respected?

That is the difference between responsible creative assistance and abuse.
