Israel and Hamas said they had agreed to a long-awaited ceasefire and hostage deal, the first phase of President Donald Trump's plan to end a war in Gaza that has killed more than 67,000 people and reshaped the Middle East. News of the deal prompted celebrations in Israel, Gaza and beyond, with Israeli families of hostages letting off fireworks, while Palestinians clapped and cheered in hopes of an end to the bloodshed.

WH in-town pool #6 — Roundtable over

Near the end of the roundtable, Trump asked participants to rank the "worst" news networks. Several offered their views.

Trump then gave his own ranking, saying he thought MSNBC was the worst, followed by CNN. He also criticized ABC, and said "we have hope for CBS" after a leadership change at the network.

"The problem is this is a very important meeting but" it won't get media coverage, Trump said. "They're very dishonest," Trump said.

At the conclusion of the roundtable, Trump took questions from the pool.

On a potential Middle East visit, Trump was asked if it might include a visit to Gaza.

"I may do that," Trump said.

"I'll be going to Egypt" most likely, Trump said, and added that he would be "making the rounds."

At 4:52 p.m., Secretary of State Marco Rubio entered the room. He passed a note to Trump who said then said that "we are very close" to a peace deal between Israel and Hamas.

On the shutdown and extending ACA subsidies, Trump said: "Obamacare is a horrible mess," and added that "we want to make it better."

Trump closed the roundtable saying that he had to go to focus on the Middle East.

Pool was ushered out of the room at 5:04 pm, as POTUS also exited with advisers.

WH in-town pool #5 — more Antifa roundtable quotes

The independent journalists at the roundtable took turns speaking about their experiences, with several saying they were attacked while covering Antifa in Portland.

The White House did not provide background information on the participants before the start of the event, but they do have name placards in front of their seats.

"Much of the legacy media has been ignoring it or covering for antifa," said Nick Sortor. He identified the journalists at the roundtable as "conservative journalists."

Sortor produced an American flag that he said was burned by a protester in Portland, and Trump asked him to give it to Attorney General Bondi so the protesters who burned it could be prosecuted.

Democrats and the mainstream media "will never wake up to that fact" that antifa "is a real thing," said Brandi Kruse. She said she was a former "mainstream" journalist in Seattle and joked that she had recovered from a case of "Trump derangement syndrome."

POTUS largely listened, but he did interject at one point to say his administration was successfully reducing crime in Washington, D.C., Chicago, Memphis and other cities. He said D.C. is now safe after he sent National Guard troops to the city.

"We're having a great impact in Memphis," Trump added.

That was followed by comments from other roundtable participants.

"The media has been demonizing us for so long," said one person who identified as a member of Turning Point USA. Your pooler cannot see her name placard, apologies. She added, "for almost ten years we've been getting assaulted on the streets."

The roundtable is still ongoing. As a reminder POTUS said at the top that he would take questions from the pool at the end.

WH in-town report #4 — Bondi, Noem, Patel quotes

President Trump started the roundtable on antifa with opening remarks.

Please check all quotes against transcript.

Antifa has "been very threatening to people" but "we are going to be very threatening to them," Trump said.

"We are going to be looking very strongly at the people who fund these organizations," he said.

He then described some incidents of violence directed at the independent journalists seated around him at the table.

Trump also praised AG Bondi for exposing "fake senators" during her Senate hearing yesterday on Capitol Hill, and singled out Sen. Richard Blumenthal in particular.

POTUS also praised Noem and FBI Director Kash Patel, who are seated to his left, and asked them to give remarks.

According to Trump, administration official remarks will be followed by remarks from the independent journalists at the roundtable, followed at the end by questions from the pool.

"We are not going to let masked terrorists" terrorize communities, Bondi said. She also praised Trump for designating antifa as a terrorist organization.

Antifa's agenda "is to destroy the American people and their way of life," DHS Sec. Noem said. She described ICE agents being "attacked" and "shot at" for carrying out immigration enforcement actions.

"I want to thank the new journalists here" for covering antifa, Noem added.

Next up was FBI Director Patel.

"What we are doing at the FBI is simple," Patel said. "We are following the money" to go after donors funding antifa, he said.

Now Trump has asked the independent journalists seated at the table to speak. More to come.

WH in-town report #3 — Gaza quotes, roundtable underway

The pool was led into the Blue Room at 3:31 p.m.

President Trump is seated at the center of a large table flanked by several Cabinet secretaries, including Attorney General Pam Bondi and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem.

Also seated at the table are a group of people who, according to the administration, are independent journalists who were attacked by members of the anti-fascist group antifa during recent protests over federal immigration policy in Portland, Oregon.

Trump started by addressing the peace talks in Egypt between Israel and Hamas.

A deal is “very close,” Trump said.

”I may go there” towards the end of the week “on Sunday” or Saturday evening, he said

The talks “seem to be going well,” Trump said.

POTUS then turned to Antifa and protests in Portland. Those remakes are underway.

More to follow.

PORTLAND: Fake News Ignores Antifa Violence, Residents’ Pleas for Help
For years, an Antifa-led hellfire has turned Portland into a wasteland of firebombs, beatings, and brazen attacks on federal officers and property — yet the Fake News remains in shameful denial about the Radical Left’s reign of terror.

That’s why, as President Donald J. Trump mobilizes federal resources to safeguard lives and property, the White House is hosting today the fearless independent journalists who have long risked their own safety to shine a light on Portland’s descent into chaos.

Of course, Portland’s own citizens — betrayed by their leaders — are sounding the alarm loud and clear, demanding action while the Fake News turns a blind eye:
“It’s like a war zone. There are times I’ve had to have a gas mask on inside my own home,” says a resident near the ICE facility under siege in south Portland. “[Deploying the National Guard] is one thing I support, as far as Trump is concerned, because the city is failing us and I don’t want to feel like I’m collateral damage — and my rights matter, too.”

“115 days of hell. I only come out during the day. You see all the black-covered Antifa people aren’t here. They come with the night,” says another Portland resident. “In the daytime, it’s all these little old senior people that think they’re changing the world before they pass from this earth.”

“Yesterday morning, I was broken into again for the tenth time,” says a business owner in downtown Portland. “We need help here and something needs to be done, so if [the National Guard] is what we need to do to get our leaders paying attention to what’s happening in Portland, then I think it’s a good thing. We’ve been struggling for a long time — since 2020.”

“We struggle every day, every week, with the crime and the drugs and just the unsafeness that comes with being here in our city right now. It’s like our leaders have abandoned public safety for us,” says a Portland coffeeshop owner.

“It may be the only way if our city and state governments are not willing to do their jobs… If city governments and police departments are not able to protect people, folks are going to look for protection from anywhere they can get it,” says a Portland man who represents retailers ravaged by crime in the city. “For those people who do not want federal troops in our streets, I would say start clamoring for your local government to protect our property, our businesses, and our lives.”

“I kind of support it 110% just because I would like to see them clean up the city of Portland,” says a resident of north Portland. “At least they can do something to help our city.”

“Look at our streets — there’s homelessness, they’re full of garbage, businesses are leaving. We are not a thriving city. Our city is falling. It’s horrible,” says a Portland woman.
It’s obvious that what’s happening in Portland isn’t mere protest; it’s premeditated anarchy — the latest chapter of violence in Portland at the hands of Antifa and the Radical Left:
Since early June, Antifa militants have laid siege to the ICE field office in south Portland. The terrorists have violently breached the facility by using a stop sign as a battering ram, hurled explosives and projectiles, burned American flags, viciously assaulted, attacked, and injured officers, doxed officers, berated neighbors, and even rolled out a guillotine.
As part of the ongoing siege, dozens have been arrested and charged with serious crimes such as arson, assaulting federal officers, and resisting arrest.

In May 2024, an “Antifa anarchist movement” took credit for burning more than a dozen Portland Police Bureau training vehicles.

In May 2022, Antifa members deployed smoke grenades, paint-filled balloons, and fireworks to break up a campaign event for a Republican political candidate.

In August 2021, Antifa terrorists violently attacked right-wing demonstrators with explosives and chemical spray.

In January 2021, more than 100 Antifa demonstrators attacked Portland police and vandalized property, with some armed with knives and long poles.

In October 2020, Antifa terrorists sparked a riot at an “Indigenous Peoples Day of Rage” event, toppling statues of Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt and vandalizing multiple buildings.

In August 2020, a self-described Antifa militant shot and killed a Patriot Prayer supporter during a riot in Portland, then was later killed after he brandished a weapon while law enforcement attempted to apprehend him on murder charges.

In 2020, Portland Antifa terrorists led 100 days of carnage and violence in Portland — in which they rioted, looted, burned buildings, bludgeoned officers, deployed power tools and commercial-grade fireworks as weapons, and attempted to destroy a local courthouse.

In May 2020, Antifa terrorists released a “chilling video” in which they threatened the city’s mayor and publicized his home address.

In November 2019, an Antifa terrorist was sentenced to six years in prison after “using a weapon against a conservative demonstrator who suffered blows to the head that the victim claims left him with a concussion and cuts that required 25 staples to close.”

In June 2019, Portland Antifa terrorists were arrested after assaulting rightwing demonstrators and police with quick drying cement and bear spray.

In August 2018, a Bernie Sanders voter was beaten by Antifa militants “for carrying an American flag.”

In 2017, Antifa terrorists caused an innocent Wisconsin family to be inundated with threats after they published their address online in a botched doxing attempt.

In 2017, Antifa terrorists attacked and injured law enforcement and attendees at a pro-free speech rally.

In 2017, Antifa threatened organizers of the annual Avenue of Roses Parade for including a Republican-themed float — prompting the group to cancel the event altogether.

In 2016, Antifa-led rioting caused more than $1 million in damage in Portland after President Trump’s election.
