Today's journal prompt:
So much of the world encourages us to become our “best selves”—
more productive, more polished, more accomplished.

But what if self-care invited something more?

Not becoming your best self, but returning to your favorite self—
the version of you that feels most grounded, authentic, connected, at peace, and whole.

The self that is able to breathe.
The self that feels honest.
The self that embodies joy.

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” — Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)

Journal Prompts:

When do I feel most like my favorite self?
What qualities, rhythms, or relationships help that version of me emerge?
What gently pulls me away from myself—and what helps me return?

Balm for my soul. When you can’t get out in nature, bring it indoors. The beauty and fragrance of nature is awe inspiring and it is a grounding and healing force for the spirit. Thanking my beautiful Bianca for the gift of this reminder.

Today's journal Prompt:

Sometimes self-care begins by creating a little room.

Room to pause.
Room to process.
Room to notice what we’ve been carrying.

We are not meant to live constantly rushed or overflowing.

Making space—within our schedules, our minds, or even our environments—can help the nervous system settle and allow clarity to return.

You do not have to fill every moment. Sometimes healing begins in the quiet spaces we allow ourselves to enter.

Ask yourself, where in my life do I feel crowded, rushed, or emotionally full right now? What might it look like to gently make space—for rest, reflection, or simply breathing a little deeper?

“Better is a handful of quietness than two hands full of toil and a striving after wind.” — Ecclesiastes 4:6 (ESV)

Today's Journal Prompt: So much of life invites us to fix, adjust, or move past what we’re feeling.

But often, self-care begins with simply noticing.

Paying attention — to your thoughts, your body, your surroundings— without judgment or urgency.

This kind of awareness doesn’t demand change.
It creates space.

And in that space, the in between places, we can begin to settle.
Our nervous system softens.
Clarity emerges.
Presence returns.

You don’t have to do anything with this moment.
Just notice it.

“Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything…” — Philippians 4:5–6 (ESV)

As we move into a new month, welcome the invitation of tending to what matters for your own care as well as everything you are already juggling.

Self-care doesn’t have to be complicated.
Often, it’s found in small, steady practices that help us feel grounded, supported, and present in our daily lives.

This month, we’re exploring simple “M” practices—each one offering a different way to care for your mind, body, and spirit with intention and compassion.

Take what resonates.
Move at your own pace.
Return to what keeps you whole.
Begin.

Today's journal prompt:

Joy was never meant to be something we earn.

Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that rest must be justified, that delight must be productive, that fun comes after everything else is finished. But what if joy isn’t a reward at the end of our striving… what if it’s part of how we return to ourselves—and to God?

In Ecclesiastes 3:12–13, we’re reminded that there is nothing better than to “be joyful and to do good…—this is the gift of God.” Joy isn’t frivolous. It’s a gift. A sacred one.

Today’s invitation:

Where in your life have you made joy feel like something to earn, rather than something to receive — and what might shift if you chose fun, simply because it brings you back to yourself?

Let this be your permission slip. Not everything meaningful has to be serious. Sometimes, healing sounds like laughter.

Today's Journal Prompt
How am I showing up for myself today—what might I need to meet myself with a little more care?

Care has a way of softening us.

Sometimes it looks like a kind word.
A moment of honesty.
A conversation that steadies the heart.

Scripture reminds us that what is gentle, thoughtful, and sincere has the power to bring gladness.

Self-care can be this kind of presence—
meeting yourself with kindness,
listening with honesty,
and offering the same compassion you would give a trusted friend.

Today, consider how you are showing up for yourself.
Is there room for a little more gentleness there?

“Oil and perfume make the heart glad,
and the sweetness of a friend comes from his earnest counsel.” — Proverbs 27:9 (ESV)

Today's Self-care Journal Prompt:

Abiding is the practice of remaining present with God—slowing down, staying connected, and resting in His presence rather than rushing ahead.

How it helps:
Abiding cultivates peace, steadiness, and spiritual grounding. It reminds us that we are not sustained by striving, but by staying connected to God’s presence and care.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15: 4 -5 (ESV)
