🌄 Today’s Sounds of Gretna: Sunset from the Tower
We’re climbing to the top of the Governor Dick tower for a summertime soundscape. Most days, the view is all about the horizon — five counties stretching out in every direction. But on this evening, the true show is in the sky. Watch as the peachy light of a Gretna summer sunset melts into the shadowy hills. Be still, and let it soak in, bathed in the the natural symphony of a forest settling in for the night.

Our thanks to Hickey Architects for sponsoring this video.

One of our contributing writers wrote this generous piece about the launch of Mount Gretna Magazine.

From our creative director:
"I want to applaud the work our whole team has put into the creation of this new publication. (Amazing to realize this was just a dream in February!) The first issue is in final production and will be released in early October. Many hands and minds have contributed to its birth and believed in the vision. We cannot wait to share it and have it be part of the beautiful network of organizations that lift up and celebrate Mount Gretna."

Mount Gretna was covered in the Associated Press today.

The central Pennsylvania town of Mount Gretna is a throwback to the period more than a century ago when the summertime get-togethers known as Chautauquas were practically a craze.

A reader-submitted gem ✨
Inspired by the beauty of a Gretna summer night (and maybe our Sounds of Gretna series?), this short video captures the new Guardian of the Arts sculpture—framed by the joyful melodies of Playhouse performers and the familiar music of the evening insects.

Mount Gretna magic at its finest.

🎥 Thank you to the community member who shared this lovely moment with us.

Fun story about the history and running of the Jigger Shop, including how it got its current name.

If you have ever wondered how articles in TheBurg come about, I can only share my experience. As a writer I count my blessings. My editor grants me the latitude to create my own topics as long as they are art related. You may ask, “What is a Jigger?” If you have heard of it, […]
