This is what responsible decision-making looks like now…

It’s my Thursday, the puppies are outside burning off enough energy to power a small town, and I’m making birria tacos like I have my life completely together.

Meanwhile, one very important question remains:

Is tonight a new-shoes night?

Because I saw a pair of Veronica Beard tennis shoes earlier…and I’m pretty sure they’ve been trying to reach me about my extended wardrobe.

I mean, if the shoes are calling…

it would be rude not to answer. 😂

So here I sit, supervising dogs, cooking tacos, and trying to determine whether buying shoes counts as self-care.

I feel like the answer is obviously yes.

Well… look who went for an actual exercise walk!

First dedicated walk since my Achilles repair, and honestly, this gorgeous cooler weather deserved the credit. Not far, but progress…

A little movement, a little sunshine, and a very happy reminder that progress doesn’t always look dramatic.

What a way to head into Monday.

Apparently my house has entered its villain era. 👀🎃

Haunted Zeglen Manor is starting to wake up.

Little by little, the everyday decor is coming down and the spooky is moving in…pumpkins, skeletons, witches, glowing trees, questionable beverages, and enough Halloween nonsense to make a perfectly normal person ask, “Isn’t it a little early?”

To which I say…

Shhhhh. We don’t say things like that in this house. 😂

And this is only the beginning. There are a LOT more transformations coming as the house slowly trades “normal” for “possibly haunted, but make it amazing.”

Please tell me I’m not the only one ridiculously excited when holiday decorating season starts.

Because once I bring out the first pumpkin…

there is no adult supervision left. 🎃👻

My night’s poppin…Tonight it’s me and Orville Redenbocker…

Tonight’s plans are hanging by a kernel of popcorn. 😂🍿

It’s been a WEEK.

Between family, work, life, and a little extra chaos nobody bothered to put on my calendar…I am officially running on caffeine, sarcasm, and whatever patience I found in the bottom of my purse.

But I also came home to flowers. ❤️
After 30 years, he still brings them home more often than not…and somehow that little thing still gets me every single time.

So tonight? It’s my Friday, which means Fri-YAY.

Pepper snuggles.
Dogs wrestling like they’re trying to settle a decades-long argument.
The Fever on TV.
And me firmly planted on the couch debating whether my craving for popcorn is stronger than my unwillingness to actually stand up and make it.

Camping and friends are on the agenda next…

…assuming I ever leave this couch. 😂

Camping season has looked a little different for me this year.

Between healing, Midwest rain that seems to show up exactly when you have plans, and just not being able to do quite as much as I normally would… we haven’t had as many weekends away as I’d hoped.

But give me the dogs, a camper, something good he is cooking over the fire, a cold drink, and nowhere we need to be… and I’m still convinced that’s pretty close to a perfect weekend.

There’s just something about campfire food, tired puppies, messy hair, too many snacks, and sitting outside until you realize you should’ve grabbed a sweatshirt an hour ago.

So I’m not calling summer over yet.

I’m planning to finish it strong, roll right into fall camping, eat something unnecessarily delicious over a fire, and let these two wear themselves completely out.

Judging by this picture… they are fully committed to the plan. 😂🐾
