Then vs. Now: Island transit has come a long way! From wooden trestles and trolley stops to modern buses and bridges, the journey to Isle of Palms has always been part of the adventure. 🌊🏝️

Back in the early 1900s, the trolley curved its way through maritime forest, building excitement for that first glimpse of the beach at Front Beach. Today, we still feel that same magic driving over the IOP Connector, awaiting the ocean view that never gets old. 💙

Hop aboard this nostalgic ride with us as we explore the evolution of transportation to our beloved barrier island—from trolleys and buses to the beauty of breezy commutes. Some things change, but the pull of the sea remains the same. 🌴

Big changes are underway on Isle of Palms as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers launches a major dredging project in the Intracoastal Waterway—tackling flooding, erosion, and beach renourishment all at once! 🏖️ Thanks to this $4.5M endeavor, sand is being relocated to IOP’s most eroded areas, protecting the shoreline and saving millions in the process.

While it’s not without its growing pains (hello, extra noise and limited beach access), the long-term benefits for locals and visitors alike are undeniable.

Heads up, beachgoers and parents—e-bikes are prohibited on Isle of Palms beaches through Labor Day. The IOPPD is cracking down on misuse that leads to property damage or unsafe riding.

📌 Why it matters:
E-bikes are fast, heavy, and require more control than traditional bikes. Some kids have already caused damage—even unintentional actions can lead to civil penalties, and intentional damage? That could mean criminal charges.

💡 What to do:
✅ Practice safe riding
✅ Parents: Talk bike safety with your kids
✅ Know the rules (and the speed limits!)
✅ Keep e-bikes OFF the beach

Did you know Ocean Boulevard was once the ultimate dance floor? 💃🕺 Back in the early 1900s, Front Beach on Isle of Palms was home to a massive 400-square-foot dance pavilion—where live orchestras played and beachgoers dressed to the nines for a night of music and movement. Before sh****ng took over the South, this was the place to be! 🎶✨

From formal weekends by the sea to today’s flip-flop-friendly beach jams, the music never really stopped—just the rhythm changed. 💛
