Long live Summer! ☀️

Did you know that here in Charleston, September is known as “locals Summer”? The tourists go back home, the kids are back in school, the beaches are quiet, but the sun’s still shining! Best time of the year — right here!

For the first time in a very, very long time… all four of my kids are in school.

And I’m still figuring out how I feel about it.

There’s grief here. I miss the noise. I miss the little people who needed me all day long. I miss versions of them that I know I’ll never get back. And if I’m being truthful, I know there will probably be days when this house feels a little too quiet.

But there’s joy here, too.

Because this is also something we’ve worked toward for years.

We’ve built a business that I poured so much of myself into — and we’re finally in a place where I can loosen my grip a little. Where I don’t have to fill every available hour with work just because the kids aren’t home.

And suddenly I’m remembering that there are things I’ve wanted to do for YEARS.

Books I want to read. Projects I want to start. Hobbies I want to pick back up. Barre classes in the middle of a Wednesday morning just because I can. 🤍

I don’t want this season to be about filling the empty space as quickly as possible. Maybe instead I learn to let things be a bit spacious.

I can grieve what’s ending and still be grateful for what’s beginning. I can miss the little years terribly and still choose to notice the goodness here.

So that’s what I’m doing.

Choosing the joy. Choosing gratitude. And slowly figuring out what I want to do with all this new space.

Not my “hot mom walk”… my healing my hormones, regulating my nervous system, and becoming a mobility girl walk. 🫶🏼

Turns out, going harder isn’t always the answer. Right now, I’m learning to support my body instead of stress it out — and this is what that looks like.

Slow walks. Fresh air. A stop at the little free library. A little sunshine. A little chaos (hi, alligator 🐊). And fully embracing my Thick Thigh Club membership.

And honestly? It feels better.

Wearing my current go-to set from — comfortable enough for whatever version of “movement” I’m in right now.

If you’re in a season of doing less on purpose…you’re not alone. 🤍
