🍕 Rocko’s Modern Reviews — Stop #5 Hamilton’s on Main
We walked in and were greeted by a staff member sitting in the corner on her phone. Paul instantly said, “No, I’m good. We don’t have to eat here.” I, however, opted to at least order something to go and give it a shot.
I was super excited to try the Detroit-style pizza we had seen advertised online, so I was disappointed to find out it wasn’t actually an option. They do offer a pretty wide variety of pizzas, slices, sandwiches, strombolis, and loaded potatoes.
While ordering, the cashier kept directing her answers to Paul—even though I was the one asking the questions AND holding the card. 🤷♀️
We went with the Downtown Deluxe Stromboli, no green peppers, sub jalapeños. We were upcharged $2.50 rather than just swapping them—not a huge deal, but worth mentioning. The dough was good and had a nice cheese pull, but the toppings were pretty skimpy. The sausage appeared precooked, was very gray, and unfortunately didn't have much flavor.
We also tried the BBQ Brisket Spud. The portion itself was BIG and the overall flavor was good. Unfortunately, there wasn't much brisket compared to everything else, and what we did get was pretty fatty. At $16, that left us a little disappointed.
If you're looking for a huge variety Hamilton's definitely checks the box. Unfortunately, the food and service just didn't quite hit the mark for us this time.
And Paul’s description of the smell when we walked in? 😳 Yeahhh…we decided that one might not be Facebook-friendly. Use your imagination.
That being said, we’re not completely writing Hamilton’s off. We’d give it another shot to see if maybe we just caught them on an off day — because one visit doesn’t always tell the whole story.
As always, this was OUR experience. Give it a try for yourself and don't just take our word for it!
