🏡 Housing Rights Matter – and Change Is Coming to Warner Robins

Hi neighbors,

There’s a federal fair housing case now under investigation right here in Warner Robins — and it’s not just about one family. It’s about a pattern of disability discrimination, unsafe conditions, and tenants being told “we don’t do that” when the law says they must.

If you or someone you know has struggled to get repairs, faced retaliation after speaking up, or been denied disability-related modifications, you’re not alone — and you may have rights under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and FHA (Fair Housing Act).

👉 Under federal law:

Landlords must provide reasonable accommodations and modifications for disability

They cannot charge you for medically necessary changes

They cannot retaliate against you for asking

It’s illegal to discriminate based on disability, family status, or religion

📣 That’s why Wind Haven Foundation — a nonprofit founded by local survivors — is stepping up to advocate, educate, and protect our neighbors.
We’re working on a long-term housing initiative that puts people over profit, and we’ve launched a Housing Support Fund to help us get there.

💜 We believe housing should be safe, affordable, and accessible to all — especially our most vulnerable.

🌐 Learn more or get involved:

🙏 We’re seeking support to:

Expand local education on housing rights

Continue outreach to affected tenants

Provide safety & pest control resources

Lay the legal groundwork for nonprofit housing partnerships

If you believe in safe homes, fair treatment, and neighbors helping neighbors — we’d love to have you alongside us.

💥 Let’s bring light to what’s happening and build something better — together.

As a nonprofit, we help Overcomers heal from abuse and toxic relationships to build healthy, thriving lives and connections.

🏡 Local Announcement: Help Us Build a Healthier, Safer Community — Together
📍 Warner Robins, GA & Surrounding Areas
From: Wind Haven Foundation – A 501(c)(3) nonprofit based right here in the neighborhood

Hi neighbors,

We’re Wind Haven Foundation, a small-but-mighty nonprofit started by local residents who’ve lived through housing instability, unsafe conditions, and being unheard by those in charge. We live here, we serve here, and we’re working toward real solutions — not bandaids.

We believe housing is more than just rent. It’s about dignity, safety, and a chance to thrive.

That’s why we’re stepping up with two local support funds — and we need your help to grow them.

🔴 Emergency Aid Fund
This fund helps residents facing urgent needs — including unsafe living conditions, infestations, sudden displacements, utility shut-offs, and other emergencies.

When someone has nowhere else to turn, Wind Haven shows up.

🛠️ Housing Support Fund
This fund supports long-term community health and stability through:

Donation-based pest control patrols in neglected apartment complexes

Natural, pet-safe home treatments for families with kids, pets, or medical needs

Safety supplies like doorbell cams and filters

Minor repair support and tenant rights resources

We’re already out there — spraying dumpsters, porches, and known problem areas. But we need your support to keep it going and expand to more households.

🏗️ The Bigger Vision
We’re laying the groundwork for something Georgia hasn't seen yet:
A nonprofit housing stewardship model that puts people over profit.

Imagine apartments run by a mission-led nonprofit, not out-of-town investors.
Imagine sliding-scale rent, responsive management, and safe, supported homes.
We’re building that future — and we’re starting right here.

💸 How You Can Help
We’re currently raising funds for:

Pest control supplies ($7 treats a whole building)

Emergency aid for families in crisis

Equipment & resources to protect vulnerable neighbors

The legal groundwork for nonprofit property management

Every donation matters — even $1/month makes a real difference.

🕊️ Who We Are
Wind Haven was founded by survivors who became advocates. We are a faith-based, trauma-informed nonprofit focused on housing, healing, and hope — because we’ve walked through the fire and believe in restoration.

We’re not just fighting bad housing —
we’re building Wind Haven.

🔧💜 Thank you for helping us make Warner Robins safer, one porch and one prayer at a time.

🚨 PUBLIC STATEMENT: A Call to Action from Wind Haven Foundation 🚨

Warner Robins, GA – June 2025

We need our community to hear us.

We are Wind Haven Foundation—a nationwide, locally based, family-run virtual nonprofit that has faithfully served Warner Robins, the state of Georgia, and our nation for five years, helping domestic abuse survivors through our domestic abuse recovery programs & resources rebuild their lives after the crisis ends. Our virtual operations and administrative base have been located right here in this city, run from our residence.

But now, that stability is under direct threat.

A recent change in property ownership has brought more than policy shifts. What was once neglect under the former company has now escalated to what we believe is outright abuse—targeting disabled tenants, retaliating against lawful accommodation requests, and implementing a pattern of intimidation and manipulation that puts vulnerable residents at risk.

Let’s be clear:

This is not just about our family.
This is not just about Wind Haven.
This is systemic—and it’s affecting families across Warner Robins, especially those who are disabled, elderly, or low-income.

We’re standing firm—peacefully, legally, and publicly—because someone has to.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP:
✅ We are actively fighting to prevent constructive eviction after requesting medically necessary ADA flooring accommodations.
✅ We are pursuing legal representation through Georgia Legal Services and other channels, but time is critical.
✅ Despite everything, we are still actively supporting survivors through our work. We haven’t stopped. We won’t—as long as we’ve got internet, a working computer, and enough caffeine to keep going, our nationwide virtual programs are still running.

Your support today helps protect our mission, preserve our stability, and amplify our voice in a battle that too many tenants are silently fighting.

⚖️ WHAT WE’RE FACING:
A reasonable ADA accommodation request met with four months of delay, three walk-throughs, and eventual legal escalation—before even asking for required paperwork.

As seven-year tenants, we’ve paid rising rent under declining conditions. Now, we’re being told we must pay out-of-pocket to replace depreciated, unsafe carpeting—despite clear medical need.

This apartment is not just our home—it is our headquarters, the legal address of Wind Haven Foundation. That operational stability is now at risk, as well as our family. But we stand against abuse here. Against injustice. This stops with us before they can do it to anyone else.

We believe the management's actions—combined with maintenance neglect, retaliation, and targeting of disabled tenants—are not just unethical, but unlawful.

💬 FROM OUR CEO:
“We’ve done everything by the book. We’ve followed the chain of command. We’ve disclosed, documented, and cooperated. And still, we’ve been met with resistance, intimidation, unnecessary legal escalation, delay, and silence when all we needed was clear communication. That’s not just neglect. That’s abuse.”

“We are not just a nonprofit. We are survivors, too. We walk with people after the crisis—and right now, we’re living proof of what it means to keep walking.”

“Warner Robins has heart. I know it does because I've met enough people in this community to know what we've got here. But it’s time this city draws a line in the sand. It's time we come together a community, because I know we're not the only ones dealing with this. Enough is enough. We’re asking you to help us make sure this story is heard—because we’re not the only ones being affected, but we are ready to stand.”

🟣 HOW TO HELP:
🙏 PRAY – We believe in the power of prayer. It fuels our mission.
💸 DONATE – windhavenfoundation.org/donate
🗣️ SHARE – Spread the word. Let your friends, churches, and neighbors know what’s happening.

All donations support our general fund to provide:

Emergency relocation if necessary

A dedicated Legal Fund to address ongoing challenges

Programs & resources for domestic abuse survivors

Operational support for our all-volunteer team

💥 FINAL WORD:
We are Overcomers—not victims.
We’ve spent the past five years helping survivors rebuild after the crisis—restoring stability, dignity, and purpose.
Now we’re standing up to protect our own foundation—and in doing so, we’re raising our voice with every tenant, every family, and every survivor who’s ever been pushed aside or priced out.

Because enough is enough.

We were here before they arrived.
And we’re not going quietly.

💜🕊️ With strength, faith, and fierce love,
The Wind Haven Foundation Team

Open Letter to Government Agencies Still Operating Like It's 1980

Dear Whoever’s Still Stuck in the Past,

It’s 2025. Not 1980. Not even 2005. Yet here we are—still forcing disabled folks into outdated communication systems as if email, texting, and web forms were science fiction.

I'm writing as a nonprofit CEO, home health worker, disabled advocate, and a person currently in a nonverbal shutdown. Trying to access services like the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or Georgia Legal Services Program, Inc. - which you'd think would welcome ADA/FHA housing cases—only to be told: “You must call to start the process”? That’s not just frustrating. It’s ableist.

Our nonprofit runs on email, caffeine, Vyvanse, and virtual communication. If we can make modern tools work on a shoestring budget, so can a fully funded government agency. This isn’t rocket science:

📨 Provide a website contact form

📧 Offer an official intake email

✍️ Let people submit information in writing, not just over the phone

I can type—perfectly well. But your system makes me jump through flaming hoops, call a number, wait on hold, and hope I don’t get cut off when trying to communicate. In a world full of email, chatbots, and portals, this should not be so hard.

If your process isn’t accessible, it isn’t just inefficient. It’s discriminatory. And for someone already battling housing discrimination, who may be struggling to speak, it doesn't help. Do better, please. This is a friendly neighborhood heads-up. We need help with REAL discrimination in the real world. Which runs on all kinds of free accessible technology these days.

We’re tired. We’re starting to roar. And we deserve better.

Sincerely,
Sarah Grace Yoder-McEntyre
