Just a reminder of the special Munster Town Council meeting today.

The Munster Town Council will conduct a special Town Council meeting on Monday, August 31, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.

The meeting announced herein will be held in Munster Town Hall, 1005 Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana.

Per the Indiana Open Door Law, IC 5-14-1.5, this meeting is open to the public, and the public is encouraged to attend

Here's a list of upcoming classes offered at South Shore Arts.

Advanced Hand Building
Tuesdays, 5:30-8:30pm, September 1-October 27, 9 weeks, $270, 18+, Instructor: Rhonda Szymanski, Studio A
Advanced hand builders will work independently while receiving instructor guidance and support as needed. Intermediate Hand Building or similar experience required.

Dynamic Drawing - Mondays, 4:30-6:30p, September 14- October 19, 6 weeks, $160, ages 7-11, Instructor: Jarred Day, Studio C
Strengthen drawing skills by exploring movement, shapes, poses, and action while creating people, animals, and dynamic scenes.

Intermediate/Advanced Wheel +Hand Building -Wednesdays 5:30-8:30pm, September 9 -November 4, 9 weeks, $270, 18+, Instructor: Pam Anderson, Studio A, Explore advanced forms and glazing techniques in this intermediate/advanced ceramics class. Open to both hand builders and wheel throwers. Intermediate experience required.

Print & Journal: Gel Plate Printing + Mixed Media-Wednesdays, 5-8pm, September 9-October 14, 6 weeks, $170, 17+, Instructor: Merrionna Pierce, Studio B, Weeks 1–3: Gel Plate Printing – Create colorful prints using layers, textures, stencils, and mark-making. Weeks 4–6: Journals & Collage – Transform your prints into handmade journals through collage, layering, and mixed media techniques.

The Creative Buffet – Watercolor, Acrylic & Drawing-Thursdays, 5-7pm, September 10- November 5, 9 weeks, $210, 18+, Instructor: Eurncie Harris Scaver, Studio B, Experiment & explore with watercolor, acrylic, and ballpoint pen drawing in this mixed-media class designed for beginners to intermediate artists.

Kids Story Hour-Wednesdays, 9:30-10:30AM, September 9-Nov 11, Ages 3+, $5 per child, Instructor: Carianne Blain, Studio C
Enjoy story time and hands-on art activities inspired by a featured book each week. Children will explore new ideas through reading, creativity, and creating their own special projects. Drop-ins welcome.

Announcement of an emergency Special Town Council – 08/20/2026

The Munster Town Council will conduct a special Town Council meeting on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. The meeting is in accordance of IC 5-14-1.5(d): if a meeting is called to deal with an emergency involving actual or threatened injury to person or property, or actual or threatened disruption of the governmental activity under the jurisdiction of the public agency by any event, then the time requirements of notice under this section shall not apply, but: (1) news media which have requested notice of meetings under subsection (b)(2) must be given the same notice as is given to the members of the governing body; and (2) the public must be notified by posting a copy of the notice according to subsection (b)(1).

The meeting announced herein will be held in Munster Town Hall, 1005 Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana.

From Little Cal Commission: At this time it appears that most of the heavy rain we were anticipating went south so there is no immediate concern about river levels. If any residents see any issues or trees that are down in the river or ditches to report them to our office at 595-0599 and leave the location and we will work to get it resolved.
