The Resilient Gentleman What it takes to be a Gentleman in today’s society, the challenges that create the resilience.

Everyone has an opinion. Very few have the results to back it up.

If you’re building a business, learn from someone who has built one.

If you’re pursuing your faith, learn from someone whose life reflects the principles they teach.

If you want to get stronger, hire a coach who has helped people get stronger.

If you want financial wisdom, seek someone who has demonstrated it over time.

Too many people accept advice from those who have never walked the path they’re trying to follow.

That doesn’t mean successful people are perfect. It means they’ve earned the right to teach through experience, discipline, and results.

Choose your mentors carefully. The voices you listen to today will shape the life you’re living tomorrow.

Who are you learning from?

People spend a lifetime building a reputation.

But is that the same thing as building a legacy?

Reputation is what people think of you while you’re here. Legacy is what remains after you’re gone.

One is built through perception. The other is built through impact.

In this episode, I asked Douglas a simple question that led to a much deeper conversation:

What’s the difference between legacy and reputation?

It’s a question every man should wrestle with, because one day your accomplishments won’t speak nearly as loudly as the lives you influenced.

Watch the conversation, then tell us your answer.

Legacy or Reputation. Which one matters more?

One day, someone will stand and talk about the life you lived.

What do you hope they’ll say?

When Douglas asked me that question, my answer wasn’t about success, money, or accomplishments.

I hope they say I tried to do everything well. That I treated people with respect. That I loved my family. That I worked hard. That I kept my word. And above all, that I sought to honor and glorify God in the way I lived.

I’m far from perfect. I fail every single day.

But because of God’s grace and what Jesus accomplished on the cross, I have hope that my life can point to something far greater than myself.

Legacy isn’t built in the final chapter of your life. It’s built in the ordinary decisions you make today.

So the question isn’t just what people will say at your funeral.

It’s what you’re giving them to say.

What legacy are you building today?

Go to school. Get the degree. Get the job. Buy the house. Make the payment. Repeat.

For generations, that’s been presented as the definition of success. But is it also a system that quietly keeps us chasing the next paycheck just to maintain the life we’ve built?

We’re not arguing that college is wrong. For many careers, it’s essential. We’re asking a bigger question:

What does freedom actually look like?

Is it a title?
A salary?
A mortgage?
Or is it having the ability to choose how you spend your time, where you work, and who you become?

This conversation isn’t about rejecting education. It’s about challenging assumptions and asking whether we’re building lives of purpose or simply fulfilling expectations.

If you’ve ever stopped and wondered, “Is this really what freedom is supposed to feel like?” this episode is for you.

This weekend, while the grill is smoking, the kids are running around, the music is playing, and the fireworks are lighting up the sky, take a minute.

Really take a minute.

Because 250 years is not just a birthday party with hot dogs and sparklers.

It is generations of courage, sacrifice, arguments, mistakes, corrections, battles, rebuilding, and people who believed this country was worth pushing forward.

The fireworks are beautiful, but they are also a reminder.

Freedom made noise before it ever became tradition.

So enjoy the BBQ. Laugh with your family. Watch the sky light up.

But somewhere in the middle of it all, let the weight of it hit you.

Two hundred and fifty years.

That deserves more than celebration.

It deserves awe.

07/02/2026

Two hundred and fifty years ago, 55 men came together without social media, AI, text messages, or cell phones and made one of the most important decisions in history. They built the foundation of a nation.

Today, we struggle to get 55 people to agree on anything. Truthfully, the three of us can barely agree on where to eat dinner, let alone write something like the Declaration of Independence.

So what changed? Have we lost the ability to unite around something bigger than ourselves, or have we simply become too distracted to listen?

This Independence Day, we take a step back and talk about courage, conviction, leadership, and what it took to build a country from an idea.

What do you think has changed over the last 250 years?

Are we too old to become something more?

At almost 54 and almost 45, we asked ourselves a question that a lot of men quietly wrestle with.

Have we already become who we’re going to be?

Or is there still another level waiting if we’re willing to do the work?

Growth doesn’t have an expiration date. Wisdom compounds. Experience compounds. But only if we refuse to get comfortable.

The real danger isn’t getting older. It’s convincing yourself your best years are behind you.

What do you think?

Drop “GROWTH” in the comments if you believe your greatest chapter is still ahead.
