A big Front Porch shout out to Samuel Lynn & Scott Napier!

Napier & Lynn awarded Apprenticeship Grant

Two western Kentucky Bluegrass musicians have received the 2026-2027 Kentucky Arts Council Folk & Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Grant. Scott Napier, Coordinator of the Capital Bluegrass and Traditional Music Program at Owensboro Community and Technical College, and 17-year-old Samuel Lynn, Paducah-native and active-participant in the IBMA Kids on Bluegrass program, will work together to preserve the Kentukcy-native art form.

Sam is a 17-year old Bluegrass guitarist from Paducah, Kentucky. For the last 3 years he's participated in the IBMA Kids on Bluegrass program, under the direction of Della Mae's Kimber Ludiker, and will perform again at this year's World of Bluegrass in Chattanooga. Other recent accolades: performed with the Travelin' McCourys as part of their Young Guns Tour this spring, opened for Trey Hensley and Rob Ickes, and received a scholarship to attend ETSU's Bluegrass Camp this summer and studied with Tim Stafford.
