📢A bird die-off has been reported at the Muskegon County Resource Recovery Center. While the cause is not yet confirmed, Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) is suspected.

⚠️ Out of an abundance of caution, a public health advisory has been issued for the recreation areas. The risk to people is low, but visitors should avoid contact with sick or dead birds and be cautious in the area.

Nearly 65,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since October 7, according to the Palestinian health ministry there. The ministry does not distinguish between civilians and fighters but has said that most of the casualties are women and children.

An independent United Nations inquiry has concluded for the first time that Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and that the country’s top leaders have incited genocide, in what it described as the “most authoritative UN finding to date.”

BREAKING NEWS: Cold Case Murder Charges Filed in Muskegon County
More than 34 years after the tragic stabbing death of 28-year-old Talfrieda “Frieda” Covington, justice may finally be within reach.

Muskegon County Prosecutor DJ Hilson announced today that Darick Anderson (DOB: 9/25/1965) has been charged with Open Murder and Perjury in the 1991 cold case. Anderson, already serving time in the Michigan Department of Corrections for a separate double homicide, now faces additional charges as a habitual offender.

“It has been a long road for the victim’s family and friends, but our investigation has finally brought us to a point where justice is within reach,” said Prosecutor Hilson.
