Volunteer and Internship Opportunities with the Mystic Film Festival
Mystic Film Festival is an annual event showcasing independent feature-length and short-form narrative films and documentaries from around the world. Our festival was created by area filmmakers to nurture local talent, to promote films made in Connecticut and New England, and to bring unique films to our community. The festival brings together a diverse group of filmmakers and audiences to explore ideas, discuss the filmmaking process, and celebrate creativity. Through engaging community events, panels and workshops, and film screenings by acclaimed and up-and-coming talent, the festival is a special experience for filmmakers and audiences alike.
Now celebrating its ninth year, the festival will take place September 24th - 27th, 2026 at venues in Mystic, Connecticut and Westerly, Rhode Island. We open with a local premiere and close the festival with an awards event where the best film in each category is recognized. An encore online festival follows the in-person festival.

We are looking for volunteers and interns to assist us with festival preparations as early as July 1. We are asking interns to commit a minimum of 3 hours per week, and possibly more during the festival.
Remote/in-person duties include:
- Assisting executive team with festival logistics;
- Social media marketing about upcoming film screenings and events;
- Distribution of postcards, flyers, and posters;
- Updating the festival website (we will train);
- Assisting team at screenings, workshops / panels and other events during the in-person festival from September 24th - 27th;
- Assisting team at the Welcome Center located at Mystic Luxury Cinemas for filmmakers, screenwriters, and other pass holders;
- Assist in editing videos for festival events;
- Assisting with onboarding / managing the ticketing and online festival platform;
- Post festival support as needed.
