Nashville, TN — DJ Preston Lee is an anomaly. He's an award winning rapper, radio host and mobile DJ from Nashville with a degree in communications from Brigham Young University-Idaho. He completed his first radio internship for a group of stations in Idaho. As an intern he connected with the right people and found a niche for himself as a parody news/entertainment rapper. The country station pick

ed up five of his songs and played them during the morning show throughout his time as an intern. His passion for radio landed him another internship in a larger market at KSL in Salt Lake City. The Nightside Project played his song “Mitt Romney” giving him a chance to be heard on a much larger scale. Preston took a job as the weekend DJ on Z103, East Idaho's largest top 40 station and worked his way onto middays. He progressed as far as he could in the company and took a full time position as the afternoon personality for Star 98, a Hot AC station in the same town. After being promoted to the program director position and becoming a household name in East Idaho, he set his sights on a larger market...Boise. Impact Radio Group (now Iliad Media) learned about his talents and hired him as their midday radio host on Wild 101 and later promoted him to be their digital director in addition to his regular on-air shift. His voice and graphic design work has been heard and seen by tens of thousands of people throughout the Treasure Valley on the radio and on billboards. He continues to reinvent himself and is launching into a new phase of his career as a mobile DJ entertaining at weddings, corporate events and private parties all over the Northwest.

Pull-off a successful private last dance with these tips!

Communicate with your DJ, planner/coordinator, venue and the person lighting your sparklers before the wedding day.

Pick a romantic/meaningful song and ask your DJ to send the guests outside to line up for the grand sendoff while you stay inside.

As soon as the room is empty, the DJ will play your song so you and your lover can have a moment of serenity alone.

During the dance, the people lighting sparklers can start lighting them about 3/4 of the way through the song so it’s a totally smooth transition into your sendoff.

After your dance is over, run through your sparklers and into the getaway car.

Follow this path and you can develop any skill!

This year, I’m forcing myself into situations where I have to use other people’s gear. Getting my hands on multiple types of DJ controllers and other equipment will allow me to learn new techniques and become a more confident and versatile entertainer.

I actually want to be uncomfortable! I want to mess up in front of a crowd (like I don’t actually want to mess up, but I want the growth that comes from making mistakes 😂).

The first question I always get asked is, “How much does it cost?” If the only consideration you have for your wedding vendors is price, you might end up with cheap results.

DJs come in all skill levels. Some are just getting started, some have been in the game a long time. Some invest in their skills, some do just enough to get by. Some smile and dance, some avoid eye contact and act like they have better places to be.
