🌊 WORTH THE DRIVE: DILLON BEACH

Just over an hour from Napa and you’re here. 🌊

Dillon Beach is the kind of place that makes an ordinary day feel like a little vacation. Wide-open sand, big coastal views, plenty of room for the kids to run, dogs running free, and that unmistakable feeling of being away.

Grab your kites, snacks + sunscreen and make a day of it. 🪁☀️

And there’s more than just the beach:

☕️ Dillon Beach Resort General Store & Surf Shop with coffee, pastries, snacks, picnic supplies, beach essentials + surf rentals, and 🍦!!!

🍽️ Dillon Beach Coastal Kitchen is a beautiful spot for a meal with coastal views.

🏡 And if you’re feeling like a mini holiday, book a stay at Dillon Beach Resort. The bungalows are SO cute and beautiful, and being steps from the beach makes it feel like a dream escape. 🤍

💰 Parking is usually $15/day

This is definitely one to add to your Napa family day-trip list.

WHAT SHOULD HARVEST PARK BECOME? 🏊🏏🎭🧸🏀🛝

If you’ve driven past the former Harvest Middle School site on Old Sonoma Road, you may have heard about the City’s plans for a future 26.6-acre public recreation campus — but the vision is still being shaped.

We attended this week’s Harvest Park Town Hall led by Napa Parks and Recreation, where Napa residents shared ideas, questions and concerns about what this space could mean for our community.

One of our favorite moments was watching a young Napa resident get up and share ideas for what the future community center should have. 💛

And that’s really what this process is about: hearing from the people who will actually use this space!

So we’re curious what YOU think Napa needs.

🏊 A large pool + affordable swim lessons?
🏏 A cricket field?
🧸 Affordable childcare?
🎭 An outdoor amphitheater?
💻 Community coworking/meeting space?
🎨 Art + maker spaces?
🔬 More STEM opportunities?
🏀 Indoor recreation?
🌳 Bigger, better outdoor play spaces?
🤙 Teen/Preteen space?

Or something completely different? Tell us in the comments!

MISSED THE MEETING?

You can still participate. The City is continuing to gather community input as it develops the future vision for Harvest Park, with initial design alternatives expected in early 2027.

🇪🇸 Spanish-speaking Napa residents: there is another town hall tonight, Thursday, September 3 at 6 PM at the Harvest Campus, 2447 Old Sonoma Road.

For project information, opportunities to participate and updates, visit the City’s Harvest Park Project page through the link in our bio.

This is a big opportunity for Napa! Let’s make sure families and kids are part of the conversation. 💛

Napa Rail Arts District turned into an artsy street festival on Saturday as Napa’s creative community came together for Action Art Fest. 🎨 And the best part? Kids were at the ❤️ of the afternoon.

A few fun highlights:
🎨 Puppet making with
🏺 Ceramic sculptural masks with
🌿 Cyanotype art with
🪴 Experimental music from plants
🎶 Kazoo making with
🪑 Woodworking studio tour and yes we drooled at the Dior Phantom Console 🤩
🧵 Bracelet making with
📝 Poetry on demand with Napa County Poet Laureate , typed live on an old-fashioned typewriter

And then came the wonderfully unexpected finale from : costumed art pieces playing musical chairs. 🪑🎨 The winner walked away with gold-painted carrots. 🥕✨

Artsy, playful and completely unexpected — exactly the kind of community afternoon we love discovering for Napa families.

Our favorite part? Seeing kids not just seeing art, but make it, play with it and become part of it. 💛

If you missed Action Art Fest this year, keep an eye on and for what’s next!

A new kind of classroom is being created beyond the walls right here in Napa Valley. 🌿

We got a first look at the Napa River Ecology Center in American Canyon during its first construction open house, and it was exciting to see the vision beginning to take shape.

When complete, this 3-acre site along the Napa River Wetlands will become a place where kids can learn about watershed science, explore nature, create through art and simply have space to play outside.

The center will include indoor and outdoor learning spaces, a covered outdoor classroom, learning garden, accessible Wetlands Discovery Path, nature-based play area and a wildlife viewing deck overlooking the wetlands.

School groups and field trips will be welcome, along with family and community programs, wildlife festivals and more.

But what we love most is the idea behind it: the landscape isn’t just the backdrop … it becomes part of the classroom.

Construction is underway now, with the Napa River Ecology Center expected to open in 2027.
