🧜‍️ In 1947, Nancy Tribble dove into history as one of the first professional mermaids at Weeki Wachee Springs.

Her performance launched what would become one of America's most iconic roadside attractions. Using innovative underwater breathing hoses, she performed synchronized dances and even held underwater “picnics” 20 feet below the surface — all without a scuba tank.

Tribble later made waves on the big screen in “Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid" and toured Florida in full mermaid costume. This splash of creativity is part of the American story of innovation and imagination we celebrate leading up to .
