TUNISIA. ๐น๐ณ
๏ธโฃIt's true that some sub-Saharan migrants in Tunisia ๐น๐ณ may behave badly, but we shouldn't generalize. Many of them are normal people who respect the country's laws. Of course, when you live in a foreign country, you have to follow its rules, but the Tunisian National Guard often goes overboard with its arrests.
๏ธโฃArresting young migrants just because they don't have papers, even those who do, is not fair. There are also undocumented Tunisians ๐น๐ณ in other countries, and yet they are not treated the same way. All over the world, including the United States, ๐บ๐ธ there are undocumented immigrants, but they are not treated like criminals.
๏ธโฃIf a migrant is doing something illegal, then yes, it's normal to arrest them. But if they're just trying to earn an honest living, why prosecute them? They must be given the opportunity to work, especially since many of them do jobs that young Tunisians ๐น๐ณ refuse. For a salary of 650 dinars
๏ธโฃWhat's even more serious is that the National Guard even arrests these migrants at their workplaces, on construction sites and elsewhere. Yet, they just want to earn a living, pay their rent, eat, and stay clean. If we prevent them from working, how can they survive? Not to mention that they contribute to the country's economy ๐น๐ณ
๏ธโฃIf we take away all their means of living, they will end up making mistakes, not because they want to, but because they have no choice. Instead of hunting them down for no reason, we must give them the opportunity to work and live with dignity.
