Rep. McBride said there is a well-organized and well-funded movement that has deliberately centered trans people in efforts to roll back LGBTQ progress.

She added: “Threats to trans people are a threat to all women,” arguing that the consequences go beyond the trans community — a claim that has sparked debate over how gender, rights, and social norms intersect.

According to McBride, transphobia, homophobia, misogyny, and s*xism stem from the same belief: that s*x assigned at birth should rigidly define identity, roles, behavior, and relationships. She argued that when one group is targeted for not fitting traditional expectations, the impact can eventually reach others as well.
