The following is a portion of a petition written by writer and journalist Jenn Morson, in response to racist videos posted yesterday by “pro life” leader Abby Johnson (who has me blocked on ig).

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfKZ15VBfcFnV-2KTQucS9fJYR_BPBWt5LCBoyBfbjYW1wCFQ/viewform

Dear Prolife friends and leaders,⁣

For some time now, Abby Johnson, a prominent prolife speaker and leader of several organizations as well as subject of the film, “Unplanned,” which is shown in churches and organizations across the country and even the world, has behaved poorly online, and more specifically, shared racist views. ⁣

While previous examples include calling a Black minister “Tyrone,” defending Kristin Hatten, an avowed white nationalist, more recently and more troubling are Johnson’s commentaries on George Floyd’s murder, Black Lives Matter, and yesterday, a video in which she states that her adopted Brown child is more likely to be racially profiled by law enforcement and that she will not be angry, as this would make an officer smart. Later in the fifteen minute video, she declares that it is acceptable in Black culture to be sexually promiscuous and that “....it is culturally different just because black fathers don’t want to be in the home.” ⁣

Racism has no place in prolife work. When persons such as Abby Johnson are considered leaders, the prolife community suffers, particularly our Black and Brown brothers and sisters. While many of the undersigned have repeatedly attempted to engage Ms. Johnson on a personal level, she is committed to her racist ideology, which is in direct conflict with being prolife, being Christian, and being a Catholic. ⁣

In light of her continuous promotion of racist ideologies, we are asking you to please cease promoting Abby Johnson, her book, her film, and all associated ministries. While many persons might think the greater good of her prolife witness outweighs her racism, this is simply impossible. Just like abortion, racism is an intrinsic evil and cannot be tolerated. ⁣

PERIOD. Please go sign the petition!!

Italian teen who died in 2009 declared ‘venerable’ by Pope Francis

"Pope Francis Wednesday advanced the sainthood causes of five men and women, including an Italian teenager who died of a brain tumor in 2009, declaring them “venerable.”

After a May 5 meeting with Cardinal Angelo Becciu, the prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, the pope approved the heroic virtue of Italian priests Francesco Caruso (1879-1951) and Carmelo De Palma (1876-1961), as well as the Spanish Redemptorist priest Francisco Barrecheguren Montagut (1881-1957).

Before becoming a priest, Barrecheguren Montagut was married (he was later widowed) and had a daughter, Maria de la Concepción Barrecheguren García (1905-1927), who was also declared venerable by the pope May 6.

The fifth sainthood cause to move a step toward canonization was that of Italian teenager Matteo Farina, who lived from 1990 to 2009.

Farina grew up in a strong Christian family in the southern Italian town of Brindisi. He was very close to his sister, Erika.

The parish where he received the sacraments was under the care of Capuchin friars, from whom he gained a devotion to St. Francis and St. Padre Pio.

The postulator of Farina’s cause for sainthood said that from a young age Farina had the desire to learn new things, always undertaking his activities with diligence, whether it was school or sports or his passion for music."

In response to growing public concern and following Governor Baker’s Emergency Order prohibiting most gatherings of 250 or more people, Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley, OFM Cap, Archbishop of Boston, has made the decision effective immediately to temporarily suspend all daily and Sunday Masses and religious services in the Archdiocese of Boston until further notice.

“When you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites. They neglect their appearance, so that they may appear to others to be fasting. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,so that you may not appear to others to be fasting, except to your Father who is hidden. And your Father who sees what is hidden will repay you." MT 6:16-18

Vatican palace turned into home for poor and homeless at pope's behest

"Sitting off St. Peter's Square next to the Vatican, the beautiful 19th-century palace would have commanded top dollar if it were a hotel, but Pope Francis had other ideas, so it has been converted into a homeless shelter."

After the building was renovated in November, it opened its doors to the homeless.

One of the missions of each Catholic parish should be to get people to Holy Mass. ⛪️

I travel a lot and I always try to go to Mass everywhere I go. Sometimes it can be difficult to find accurate Mass times.

The first thing I always do is google "Catholic Church near me." I then usually start with the first one and see if there is a Mass time I can make. This is how I believe most people would do it.

Your website should be easy to find. 🌐

A good way to make sure it is easy to find is to make sure you Google My Business updated.

In the picture below the first Church is listed nicely and when you click through to their website there is a button right at the top to see Mass times.

Your Mass times should be easy to find. 🕓

It is not just people traveling looking for Mass times. Perhaps it is someone who has been away fro the church for a while. Or maybe someone is new in town.

Make your Mass times easy to find and keep them updated.

If you are not sure how to update your Google listing, website, Facebook or Instagram, shoot me over a message. We can help! 😀

“Communication is a means of expressing the missionary vocation of the entire Church; today the social networks are one way to experience this call to discover the beauty of faith, the beauty of encountering Christ. In the area of communications too, we need a Church capable of bringing warmth and of stirring hearts”

“We, the jerk community, would like the Mass times to be printed right on the front of the bulletin and published right on the home page of the website. The reason we want this is because we want to know when Mass is, so we can go to Mass when there is Mass.”

Pope Francis on Christmas: Christ's light is greater than the darkness of world's conflicts

“The Son is born, like a small light flickering in the cold and darkness of the night. That Child, born of the Virgin Mary, is the Word of God made flesh … There is darkness in human hearts, yet the light of Christ is greater still,” Pope Francis said from the center loggia of St. Peter’s Basilica Dec. 25.

On Christmas, Pope Francis prayed for Christ to bring light to the instability in Iraq, Lebanon, Venezuela, Yemen, Ukraine, Burkina Faso, and other parts of the world experiencing conflict.
