Photos show engineer Josh Blood and narrator Don Feldheim after completing the audiobook recording of the true story, 438 Days: An Extraordinary True Story of Survival at Sea by Jonathan Franklin

Based out of Costa Azul, Mexico (but originally from El Salvador), fisherman Salvador Alvarenga's motor fails and he is lost at sea. Over a period of 438 days (!) he drifts across the Pacific Ocean to the Marshall Islands, surviving on hand-cought fish (including sharks), birds, turtles, barnacles, etc. ...all consumed raw.

Charlie Abbott takes a few minutes to work on a personal project. Never throw away jazz fusion music on a high quality cassette when you can repair it!

Charlie tells me he discovered Spyro Gyra and the The Yellowjackets back in the day listening to Fusebox on WERS 88.9 FM Boston, my old college radio station.

Lang Elliott's A Birdsong Tutor For Visually Handicapped Individuals

We're feeling very encouraged by the wonderful feedback readers (listeners) have shared since the 2013 release of Lang Elliott's A Birdsong Tutor For Visually Handicapped Individuals in the Digital Talking Book format.

We are proud to have worked on the analog-to-digital transfer of this audiobook.

From Josh Blood: It's always a pleasure to have the opportunity to meet a National Library Service (NLS) reader, and last weekend I met a lovely woman named Ariel (in yellow) who reads Talking Books via NLS' postal program. She told me that she does *lots* of reading!

Proofreader and language buff Joe Ampolo has been working hard on round 2 of researching the pronunciation of terms from the book, Why Priests?: A Failed Tradition by Garry Wills. Josh Blood researched the easy stuff like places and people; now Joe is finding correct pronunciations for Ancient Greek, Latin, French, German, and more. And this book is full of them!

The advance research makes it easier for our narrators to do their work, since they can always pause and verify a pronunciation by looking at the sheets the researchers have provided.

Joe Ampolo sees the home stretch in his language research
