Sad, but ultimately necessary news from Nashua DPW....

This was an incredibly difficult decision to make - but after much discussion with input from multiple agencies, we were not able to find a way to make our pools safe this summer during the Coronavirus pandemic. Hundreds of children spend the day at our pools in very, very, close contact. Other towns and cities in our State have already come to this same conclusion, and have already made this hard choice as well. We look forward to a better time when we can offer all of our services and resources to our residents once again, in a healthy and safe environment.

Some face mask guidance from Nashua Public Health...

Face coverings work to keep people's respiratory droplets to themselves in public settings where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants). If everyone wears a face covering to lower the chance that they are unknowingly transmitting the virus, everyone ends up being more protected.

Maintaining social distancing of at least 6 feet and proper hand washing remain important to slowing the spread of this virus. Since this virus can spread through close contact (speaking, coughing, or sneezing), even in people not showing symptoms, wearing face coverings in public are effective at slowing the spread when compliance is high.

Changes to help the business community are at foot....

We will be placing barriers on Main Street today that will most likely remain there through the summer, and possibly into the fall, to allow our downtown restaurants the opportunity to expand their outdoor dining space. There will now only be ONE lane in each direction for vehicular traffic use. This will definitely impact traffic going forward. If you are just passing through the downtown area -please take another route if possible. We wish our downtown businesses well during this difficult time!
