Earlier this month, I had the honor of speaking at the 2025 Conference—sharing what I love most: using movement to deepen literacy.

In this clip, we started with something familiar—clapping out syllables (classic, right?)—but then layered on choreography to make it kinetic and joyful.

Because when students move, they remember.

🧠 Movement and reading aren’t separate lanes. They work together to build stronger neural pathways for decoding, phonics, and fluency.

It was such a pleasure to share a literacy infused dance lesson with on yesterday!

The littles had a good time enjoying a little bit of freeze dance and of course we went over some letters and sounds

(Once a reading teacher, always a reading teacher! 😉 )

The older kiddos explored social dance and chatted about how social dances evolve from one dance into another.

The twist (from the 1950s) ➡️ Walk it Out (2006) ➡️ Cupid Shuffle " the turning part lol" (2007)

Thank you so much Mrs. Stockdale for the invitation and thank you to the beautiful dancers and families for going all in during our time together!
