One of our 2022 Composer Competiton finalists, Michael’s “Fantasia on Themes from Journey” packs a depth into Austin Wintory's compositions that washes over you like a monstrous wave, contrasted by moments where he stretches the melodies in a way that seems to float and travel far beyond their initial iterations. Creatively weaving together themes from Nascence, Apotheosis, and I Was Born For This, Michael masterfully recreates the picturesque landscape within Journey (Game). Dynamic and full-bodied at times, the orchestration is also subtle and sparse, offering listeners the experience of both a full orchestra and chamber ensemble.
So excited to play Michael J. Miller’s “Fantasia on Themes from Journey” at MIRAGE next Saturday, June 18 at Theatre 71 at Blessed Sacrament!
