The news of the disappearence and abduction of Dr. Kiiza Besigye from Kenya is of greatest concern.

According to his family, Dr. Besigye was abducted on Saturday in Nairobi and is suspected to be under military detention here in Uganda.

This is most unfortunate! A few months ago, 36 other activists were abducted from Nairobi and brought back to Uganda in utter violation of the law.

As we call for his immediate release, we condemn this blatant abuse of the law by the regime here in Uganda, and sadly the authorities in Kenya. We are back to the dark days when Ugandans were casually picked from the streets of Nairobi and returned to Uganda to be tortured, jailed and others executed.

The abduction of Ugandan citizens from Kenya and handing them over to the regime in Ugandans without following extradition laws must be condemned by all people of good conscience!

Uganda 🇺🇬

In yet a cowardly, shameless move, the Museveni regime has blocked our event to celebrate the life and work of our distinguished Deputy President, Hon. Jolly Mugisha. The police has deployed heavily at Nyamityobora Grounds in Mbarara and blocked access to it. They have chased away all service providers and threatened to arrest them. This morning, the RPC, one Bagambaki Wilfred said he has orders not to allow this function, unless we get permission from the IGP! So shameless, so cowardly that even in death, they can behave in this manner.

🇺🇬
At our presser today, I addressed the country on several issues including recent claims by dictator Museveni that we rigged 1 million votes in the 2021 election. After Dr. Besigye swore himself in as President of Uganda in 2016, the regime charged him with treason but eventually abandoned the case before taking it to trial.

Museveni took the cowards' way out of the Besigye treason case because he knew that Dr. Besigye would produce compelling evidence that Museveni had lost the election despite being announced 'winner'. Well, this morning, we wrote to the thieving dictator challenging him to waive his illegitimate immunity so that we face off in Court over his allegations.

I also highlighted plans by the Museveni regime to take away the citizens' right to vote a President and instead vest it in the hands of a few, often corrupt members of Parliament. Dictator Museveni is almost making 90 years of age and thus lacks the physical stamina and mental wherewithal to traverse the entire country looking for votes he knows he won't get.

Even his favored successors are extremely unpopular and out of touch with the masses. Because of this reality, the regime wants to use Parliament to avoid a humiliating defeat and the unsustainable cost of rigging elections. I call upon all citizens to keep alert and prepare for the fight of your lives once this premonitory proposal formally reaches Parliament.

Finally, I also communicated our intention to resume the nationwide mobilisation tour starting October 7th. We have already notified police and other relevant entities.

Uganda 🇺🇬

Dear friends,

As you may already be aware by now, following yesterday's brutal attack by the Police, I was admitted to Nsambya Hospital for treatment.

Once the regime learned of my admission, security operatives came to the hospital and harrased the doctors treating me, demanding for details of my medical records.

They also made several attempts to forcefully access my treatment room but were held off by our vigilant comrades.
As if that wasn't enough, they also blocked all roads leading to the hospital, thereby disrupting hospital traffic flow and endangering more lives.

Consequently, and after undergoing minor surgery to remove all foreign bodies that had remained in my leg, I was forced to return home prematurely today for the sake of my safety, and out of consideration for other patients at Nsambya Hospital who do not deserve the inconvenience and intimidation.
I will get the rest of my treatment from home.

Many thanks to all of you who continue to send kind messages of support and consolation.
We will soon speak out.

Upon his announcement of the cancellation of the Senegal Presidential election slated for the 25th of February, fears are that Macky Sall wants to stay in power indefinitely. It has never been part of his plans to organize an election where he won't participate.

The Ziguinchor Court of Appeal had declared Mr. Ousmane Sonko's radiation abusive and ordered his reinstatement into the electoral lists.

The Supreme Court, sequestered by the State of Senegal, dissatisfied with the decision, had quashed the order issued by the judge of Ziguinchor on the issue of foreclosure, and returned the baby and the bathwater to the court of extracurricular appeal in Dakar.

The Dakar court judge this morning: -
-rejected the end of not receiving Mr. Ousmane Sonko's conclusion in his appeal to restore his electoral rights;
- Thus declared Mr. Ousmane Sonko admissible in his appeal for his reintegration into the electoral lists.
-Declared null and void the deletion of Mr. Ousmane Sonko from the electoral lists by the central services of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Senegal.
-Ordered his reintegration into the electoral lists.

Twice the court has ruled and proved Mr. Ousmane Sonko right. It is time for the state to abdicate and it would be neither shame nor desolation, but greatness and wisdom.

Law has been spoken and justice has stood up.
The participation of Mr. Ousmane Sonko in the elections of February 25, 2024, will only consolidate Senegalese Democracy, and the rule of law and reconcile the Senegalese people with justice.

How Sam Larry was arrested – Police source

The Lagos State Police Command late Thursday night confirmed the arrest of controversial Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, better known as Sam Larry over an ongoing investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of late Singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad.

However, details have emerged on how the popular music promoter was arrested.

A police source who craved not to be mentioned as he was not authorised to speak on the matter said he was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Thursday evening.

He said, “Sam Larry was arrested at the airport after he arrived from Kenya. Our officers arrested him at the airport and he was immediately taken to the state police headquarters for questioning.”

Sam Larry’s name had featured prominently since the demand for justice over Mohbad’s death started to gain traction.

His arrest also came after late Mohbad’s former music label boss, Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley announced his plan to return to Nigeria provided his safety was guaranteed.

The police had earlier invited the duo for questioning over Mohbad’s demise.

The police, last week, also confirmed that pathologists have concluded the autopsy conducted on Mohbad, while the police await the result.

Hundeyin said, “Autopsy has been concluded. Awaiting results.” This development followed the exhumation of Mohbad’s co**se by a combined team of the Nigeria Police Force and health officials.

The police had also arrested the nurse who reportedly injected the deceased singer before his demise on Tuesday, September 12.

Weah Returns from Israel and Bissau, Announcing ECOWAS Endorsement of Liberia’s Ambition for UNSC Non-Permanent Seat

Monrovia, Liberia - The President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah returned to the country on Monday, 10th July 2023, with good news following a successful trip to the State of Israel and Guinea Bissau.

President Weah and Entourage touched down at about 9:31 local time, received by an array of government officials led by the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs G. Wesseh Blamoh.

Minister Blamoh acted as Chair of the Cabinet in the absence of the President in close consultation with the Vice President.

Addressing reporters upon arrival, the President described his trip as holy, fruitful and beneficial to the country and people, disclosing that the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has endorsed Liberia's quest for non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

President Weah Sunday had made Liberia’s case for the non-permanent seat at the just ended 163rd Extraordinary Summit of ECOWAS held in Bissau, the capital of Guinea Bissau.

In his address to the august body, the President sought the bloc's unflinching support for a Non-Permanent Member of the United Nations Security Council to represent the Western Africa Region for the period 2026-2027.

Regarding his trip to Israel, he said his delegation had healthy and fruitful talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netahyanh and President Isaac Herzog of the State of Israel on strengthening the bilateral ties subsisting between the two countries and to foster more mutual benefits.

President Weah disclosed his trip was in the dear interest of the country, particularly on how Israel could be a help to the people of Liberia in terms of harnessing their advanced agricultural capacity.

The Liberian Leader also announced that Liberia is considering Israel request to open an embassy in Israel, saying that the Foreign Ministry will work out the detailed modalities.

"I think it is good for Liberia to have an embassy there because it will enable us to serve the interest of the citizens there, and for the enhancement of bilateral ties with Israel,” he stressed.

The President departed Liberia on 1st July 2023, for a working visit to the State of Israel, following which he flew to Guinea Bissau to attend the 163rd Extraordinary Summit of ECOWAS.
