Life
One of the odd things about life, is that often the knowledge a man needs comes too late for any good.
It's easy to see afterward, that as a young man one should have dictated his own life and not permitted his life to be orchestrated either by circumstances or other people.

Young men is often told to be a leader, a winner. Do what it takes to be successful. By the time he gets old enough to see that all his worries and strife didn't amount to very much, he is too old or to worn out to make a change.

Often men go through the same process and permit the wrong people to influence the direction of their life. They want to be successful and if they don't realize what is most important to being succeful, he usally won't later.

If man wants to be the architect of his own fate, now is the time. The old man looks at him with understanding. Now is his chance, The old man prays that he won't squander it away on drugs, alcohol or women.

Savage Arms AccuCan Suppressors Seeing Major Success with Key Distributors

Savage Arms continues to see growth and scale with the AccuCan line of suppressors that debuted at the close of 2023. The brand announces today that multi-caliber options are available through distributors Sport South, RSR, Lipseys, Chattanooga Shooters Supply, Davidson’s and Bill Hicks. This widespread availability helps these lightweight, field-serviceable suppressors reach a wide new customer base when ATF approval speed is at an all-time high.

The AccuCan line has seen great traction and adoption by hunters and shooters alike. Individual models AC338, AC30 and AC22 create separation in a busy market. Savage developed these suppressors with difference-making features around usability in the field, durability and ruggedness. AccuCan Suppressors also greatly reduce other disturbances such as flash and recoil to further improve the shooting experience.

“Getting well-known distributors to buy in and carry our line has been a huge reason for the AccuCan line’s early success,” said Rob Gates, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Savage. “We were proud of the products we brought to market. We didn’t just develop a ‘me too’ suppressor line. But without the support of key customers, sales would be an uphill battle. Excellent availability combined with growing consumer demand for suppressors and reductions in ATF approval time has created a hot market for suppressors in general. The AccuCan line is quickly becoming a top choice for hunters and shooters and we are thrilled the Savage Arms brand is excelling in another category in the hunting, shooting and outdoor space.”

The AccuCan Difference

Each individual AccuCan offering is feature-rich and designed to specific criteria that allow them to go head-to-head with existing suppressors in their product category. But there are a few distinct qualities across the entire AccuCan line that represent the innovation driving demand right now.

Today’s hunters and shooters are mobile, so suppressors can’t be a burden in the weight category. AccuCan offerings from the AC338 down to the AC22 are some of the lightest suppressors available today. They’re also rugged and boast unmatched strength-to-weight ratios.

AccuCans feature a MonoKore design that increases accuracy for seasoned and novice shooters alike. This is achieved by the fact that these suppressors reduce flash and recoil—as well as sound. After all, modern suppressors should do more than reduce a little noise.

Suppressors are now used frequently and owners also need and want to be self-reliant. That’s why each AccuCan is field-serviceable with an easy-to-disassemble/reassemble three-piece design. So whether shooters are at home on the bench or in the field on a hunt, adjustments can be done swiftly without the need for specialized tools or equipment.

More information on the full AccuCan lineup can be found at www.savagearms.com.

Silencer Shop Announces Exclusive Launch of the CAT NOAH 6ARC Suppressor

Silencer Shop, the country’s largest suppressor distributor, is thrilled to announce the exclusive launch of the CAT NOAH, a cutting-edge suppressor from Combat Application Technologies (CAT). Available solely at Silencer Shop, the CAT NOAH is Combat Application Technologies’ new 6mm silencer. The NOAH provides incredible performance and reliability for casual shooters, hunters, and competitors.

Introducing the CAT NOAH

The clever cats at Combat Application Technologies have delivered another groundbreaking silencer, the CAT NOAH. The NOAH is a 3D printed suppressor designed to optimize the performance of 6ARC AR15s and bolt-action rifles. Featuring CAT’s proprietary SURGE BYPASS technology, the NOAH suppressor significantly reduces gas blowback, ensuring cleaner and more reliable operation. This advanced technology is tailored for high-pressure rounds like 6ARC, 6 Creedmoor, and 6GT, making it an ideal choice for precision and hunting rifles. Surge Bypass and the tight bore of the NOAH also make it an excellent silencer to suppress 5.56 carbines.

Key Features and Benefits

Advanced Gas Management: 3D printed SURGE BYPASS technology minimizes gas blowback; fi****ms will run smoothly and reliably.
Enhanced Accuracy: Designed to reduce turbulence, the CAT NOAH maintains precision for hunting and target shooting.
Material Options: Available in lightweight grade 5 titanium or robust 718 Inconel for extreme durability and heat resistance.
Versatile Mounting: Compatible with 1.375x24 HUB mounts or CAT’s 16x1 LH TSF X / Spooky QD mount, providing flexibility for various rifle setups.
Integrated Flash Hider: Both titanium and Inconel models feature an integrated flash hider, significantly reducing muzzle flash.
The titanium model of the CAT NOAH is perfect for 6mm precision rifles and hunting setups due to its lightweight design, yet it remains strong enough to suppress 6mm and 5.56 rifles with barrels as short as 10 inches. Weighing in at just under 10 ounces and measuring over 6 inches, the NOAH Ti ensures excellent sound suppression and minimal back pressure without compromising rifle balance.

For extreme conditions, the Inconel version offers exceptional heat and erosion resistance, ideal for hard-use carbines and 5.56 or 6ARC rifles with barrels of 8 inches or longer. This version is also recommended for night vision shooting due to its superior flash elimination capabilities.

Both models are available in either CAT’s robust TSF X QD system, or 1.375x24 HUB mount to give shooters maximum compatibility across a variety of fi****ms.

Memorial Day:
The first proclamation for Memorial Day was made in 1921 by President Harding, setting aside May 30 as a official Holiday.

But, did you know where the Idea of Memorial day came from?

General Norton Parker Chipman, a justice of the Third Appellate court of California, in 1866 wrote the order which set May 30 as Memorial Day. He was a soldier during the Civil War.

The inspiration for the founding of Memorial Day came from the experience's he had while a Military es**rt for President Abraham Lincoln for the dedication the the Gettysburg Battlefield as a National Cemetery.

Memorial Day, comes in the Spring Time, when all of nature takes on renewed and sustained life, and the revival of nature. This is after the long winter slumber.

I believe it is fitting for us to enjoy the heritage that comes to us through the supreme sacrifices of our forefathers, friends and neighbors. For all of America to assemble at the appointed time and remember the struggles (tragic) of the past and renew of devotion to the great humanitarian principles which we enjoy on this day.

Springtime Alert: Leave Young Wildlife Alone
Whether in their backyards or high on a mountain, it’s almost certain Pennsylvanians will encounter young wildlife this time of year.

While some young animals might appear to be abandoned, usually they are not. It’s likely their mothers are watching over them from somewhere nearby.

So when encountering young wildlife, be it deer, birds, raccoons or other animals, the best thing you can do is leave it alone.

“Well-intentioned people might step in to help a young animal that appears to be alone, not realizing its mother is nearby and it’s not in need of help,” said Matthew Schnupp, the Game Commission’s wildlife management director. “That’s one reason why leaving young wildlife undisturbed in the wild typically is the best solution when encountering young wild animals.”

Adult animals often leave their young while they forage for food, but they don’t go far and they do return. Wildlife also often relies on a natural defensive tactic called the “hider strategy,” where young animals will remain motionless and “hide” in surrounding cover while adults draw the attention of potential predators or other intruders away from their young.

Deer use this strategy, and deer fawns sometimes are assumed to be abandoned when, in fact, their mothers are nearby.

The Game Commission urges people not to interfere with young wildlife or remove any wild animal from its natural setting.

Such contact can be harmful to both people and wildlife. Wild animals can lose their natural fear of humans, making it difficult, even impossible, for them to live normally ever again in the wild. And anytime wildlife is handled, there’s always a risk people could contract diseases or parasites such as fleas, ticks and lice.

Wildlife that becomes habituated to humans also can pose a public-safety risk. Some years ago, a yearling buck attacked and severely injured two people. An investigation revealed a neighboring family had illegally taken the deer into their home and fed it as a fawn, then continued to feed the deer right up until the time of the attack.

It is illegal to take or possess wildlife from the wild. Under state law, the penalty for such a violation is a fine of up to $1,500 per animal.

Under no circumstances will anyone who illegally takes wildlife into captivity be allowed to keep that animal, and under a working agreement with state health officials, any “high risk” rabies vector species confiscated after human contact must be euthanized and tested; none can be returned to the wild because the risk of spreading disease is too high.

Animals infected with rabies might not show obvious symptoms, but still might be able to transmit the disease. Though any mammal might carry rabies, the rabies vector species identified in the agreement are skunks, raccoons, foxes, bats, coyotes and groundhogs.

People can get rabies from the saliva of a rabid animal if they are bitten or scratched, or if the saliva gets into the person’s eyes, mouth or a fresh wound.

Only wildlife rehabilitators, who are licensed by the Game Commission, are permitted to care for injured or orphaned wildlife for the purposes of eventual release back into the wild. For those who find wildlife that truly is in need of assistance, a listing of licensed wildlife rehabilitators can be found on the Pennsylvania Association of Wildlife Rehabilitators website, www.pawr.com.

Wildlife Habitat Warning from QUWF – the RBH Danger

Dedicated landowners, sportsmen, farmers and ranchers we work with own 95% of all the lands in the U.S. and spend untold private dollars and sweat equity into maintaining wildlife on their properties. The most critical time of year, for most species, is the spring and early summer when the young are born and moved into the habitat. Nest survival and spring birth survival is critical. Help us spread the word.

“We have already had reports and pictures of turkey nests being accidently destroyed by what we call “recreational bush hogging (RBH), especially with new landowners” states Craig Alderman of QUWF. The temptation to bush hog or use a circular cutter causes real and permanent damage to ground nesting birds in the fields. Turkey and quail like to nest in clumps of native grasses, small patches of briars or brush in the body of the fields and cannot be spotted until it is too late. These are normally targets of the RBH operator, thinking to “clean-up” his field. “I drove to our southern boundary to check for trespass on the QUWF farm going down our maintenance road and flushed two turkey hens in the fields, from their nests, within yards of the road,” reflects Alderman. We missed early field prep due to weather and now will leave the fields until early July for fall planting prep leaving the nests alone. Note the locations, most likely they will chose the same areas next year.

We ask if you have not prepared your fields for planting for whatever reason, leave the bush hogging, use of finish mowers etc. to early July to let the nesting and birth cycle be complete. This is what we as biologists, concerned sportsman and landowners work for, the natural reproduction of our wildlife. If you have secondary nesting, this may extend to August in some parts of the country. Please let others know.

Further, here in Central MO we have had our first fawns drop for 2024. The danger, the does will bring them into field edges within weeks of birth, exactly the time haying efforts begin in earnest. Once again, these fawns are taught to be exceptionally still and too are impossible to see from a tractor or other equipment.

Here in the Midwest, haying is critically important to cow/calf operations. It has already begun in-between the downpours, tornadoes and straight-line winds. Being vigilant on a mower, especially along the edges, is key or even having someone check the area for nests and fawns as you move through the fields is a good option. Yes, it takes a little extra caution and effort but saving the lives of the critters you want to survive is the direct result.

When you do bush hog, have an RTV, UTV or ATV go ahead of you slowly to ensure there are no hidden critters. Preserve what you have worked for. We do recommend late fall for serious bush hog use on fields.

Mossy Oak Releases 2024 Wild Turkey Conservation Stamp

Mossy Oak has released their third annual wild turkey conservation stamp, a collectible stamp in which all proceeds go directly to wild turkey conservation projects around the country.

After an enthusiastic and successful response to the first two stamps, the 2022 and 2023 stamps, Mossy Oak has been able to use the funds raised from those stamps to support research and projects such as groundbreaking and crucial LPDV research, hen survival, nesting selection and success, poult rearing, and general habitat improvement and putting more prescriptive fire on the landscape.

The 2024 Mossy Oak Wild Turkey Conservation Stamp features a painting by infamous wildlife painter Ryan Kirby entitled “Bottomland Bachelors, ” in which three longbeards walk through a sundrenched patch of woods.

100% of proceeds from this year’s stamp will again go into our Gamekeeper Grants conservation program to, with the help of leading scientists and biologists, carefully choose which conservation and research projects to support next.

Mossy Oak founder Toxey Haas has written a letter to stamp purchasers to thank and encourage everyone for the enthusiastic support for the wild turkey.
