n 2006, Scalzo joined Brett Aveni and influential drummer Chris Pennie in progressive metal band Return To Earth. RTE's first album 'Captains of Industry' was released later that year, followed by a third Q*Ball album in 2007. Return To Earth released their second album 'Automata' on Metal Blade Records in 2010. Bald Freak signed modern rock act The Head Set in 2011, and released the band's second album, 'If It Takes All Night'. In 2012, Ron's New York City studio and home office were destroyed by Superstorm Sandy. Uncertain about the future of his label and his life, Ron reinvented himself as a solo musician, traveling to Seattle, Tucson, Nashville, and Berlin to record songs that would appear on three solo releases: the cathartic 'The Last Q*Ball Album' in 2014, 'You Deserve The Best' in 2015, and 'I Gotta Rock' in 2017. Ron reunited with Chris Pennie to form the electronic rock project Hipster Slaves in 2019. A new solo release and Return To Earth's third album are slated for release in 2021. Ron hosts and produces the Independent Minded podcast, featuring interviews with independent artists and musicians from around the world since 2012.
