Southern Gospel Today is owned and operated by HFM Media / Howard Family Ministries in Nashville, Tennessee

HFM has a rich history in Internet Ministry as they began in 1995 working through AOL operating a Christian Ministry Chat Room in which thousands came each week within a few months of starting the presence. A team of counselors and advisers were assembled to handle the load and ministry nee

ds in the room. The very first web site, hfmnet.com was put in place and remains there today with free books, and insights to all. In 1999 a venture called Southern Gospel Chat found it’s way to the Internet and each week again thousands joined in online chats 24 hours a day 7 days a week from around the world. This site would feature the names in Southern Gospel who would join for special one on one chats with the fans once a week. Folks like Hovie Lister, Vestal Goodman, Kirk Talley, Little Willie Wynn, and others shared with fans inside the chat room. The room was sold to Akers Ministries in North Carolina in 2001 and remained until the owners death the next year. A web hosting company was formed in 2001 to provide affordable web hosting for gospel groups and churches around the country. The hosting company grew each year until they had to add another server for sites being hosted. In 2009 HFM / HFM Media became a partner and soon owner of what is now called Southern Gospel Magazine, sold to Brewer Media in 2011. They also purchased sister site Gospel 45 Now which is a radio release web site. In January 2012, Southern Gospel Today began it’s presence on the Internet and quickly became one of the favorites among it’s peers. May, 2012 saw over 1 million visits to the web site and it has remained steady ever since. We would love to hear from you. I have been in the live stream business almost 20 years. When I started there was nothing more than U-Stream and Live Stream. Then came Sunday Streams and more... then came Facebook. Well, two of them have dropped off the map. My goal was to have 100 customers. Have never reached that thus far. But really, what do we have to offer the others don't? Well, you get a free website (not a page, but a website) You get your streams sent to up to 30 outlets (Facebook, YouTube, Rumble,... etc,...if you have accounts,...) and real live tech support! Not only does our support handle your stream needs, but we can handle almost anything wrong with your computer. So, why don't folks use us? One little freebie cancels out all the others, man are they missing out! And to top it off, very affordable.

Thanks to all the folks who have responded with your gifts to HFM in support of our online and offline ministry efforts!...

Ok... I'm a bit fed up with the attitude of some preachers towards live streaming the church service and saying it is not doing more than just glamorizing the pastor or church status. Saying it does nothing to "feed" the people.

A little church in Smyrna TN live streamed a revival service for several weeks,... one night after the service a man wrote in that he had actually watched services via the internet stream. He told of his life before and a new life he was facing due to the fact he had accepted Christ as his Savior that night during the live stream. The church was able to reach out to a local church in his area, again, via an internet connection and they were able to continue ministry to him,.... the man was in Sweden. If a church decides to do a live stream and I hope many will, not just on Facebook, but via websites like the church in Smyrna did, they have a responsibility to do more than just turn on the camera. You have to communicate to the audience that is watching as well. Some can't be in the physical service due to sickness or work. Some have been hurt by the church. As a man who owns a livestream company that deals only with ministries and churches, I am proud of the outreach we are doing. Last year we had over 550,000 people watch live streams. If one person comes to know Christ through those streams we are setting the table,... it's the church's job to feed the sheep. It's time to think outside the walls of the building.

If you want to know how to better utilize your live stream from your church, reach out to me!
