APUTURE STORM 1200X CINE KIT

Tech moves fast, and it’s hard to know when an upgrade really matters. But the .lighting STORM 1200X is one fixture that’s earning its hype.

The new BLAIR five-color engine takes the X-series beyond bi-color into full-spectrum territory. Cleaner skin tones, richer color, and fewer green / magenta shifts to fight in the image.

On the usability side, the compact F12 fresnel and locking Bowens mount make the 1200X genuinely convenient on set. And for a fixture this bright and punchy, the low-end dimming is impressive all the way down to 0.1% with no noticeable color shift.

The STORM series also includes the pro features we’ve come to expect from Aputure, like IP65 weather protection and wireless control via CRMX and Sidus Link.

It’s a versatile, capable light that’s earning its place on set.

Our tiny Angénieux 8–64mm f/1.9 C-mount zoom was used to shoot pivotal flashback scenes in Stranger Things Season 5.

The production searched nationwide for the exact lens the DP wanted. No luck, until they found ours.

In the case you get a huge variety of modifiers: reflectors, diffusers, fresnels + barn doors, and a mini light dome.

We were honored to support this powerful short film 'SEED' now featured on by director / editor and cinematographer

JT and Diego met the main character Sonia 7 years ago in Kolkata, India and committed to someday return and tell her story. Swipe to the last frame to see the teaser.

SEED is a personal look at the dangers faced by a young woman growing up in an Indian slum. Showing how she escaped violence to find safety, healing, and freedom.

This poignant story is a reminder that every person, no matter who they are or where they're from, deserves to experience peace and to blossom into the best version of themself.

LAOWA FF 8-15MM FISHEYE ZOOM & 9MM PRIME ON SUPER 8 CAMERA

We were inspired when paired the Pro2be with Kodak's Super 8 camera. So we modded our C-mount Super 8 cam to PL mount, opening up a huge range of lens possibilities on film. Like the X-Tract 18-28mm T8 probe zoom.

Now also available: Laowa's crazy wide full frame 8-15mm T2.9 fisheye zoom and 9mm T5.8 prime. The fisheye zoom intentionally vignettes at wider focal lengths on large format sensors, creating a circular frame within a frame.

The 9mm expands (literally) on the success of Laowa's 12mm Zero D lens, offering nearly a 180 field of view. The angle is so wide, you have to make sure your hands aren't visible when holding the camera or pulling focus. Truly trippy!

Make the world feel huge with these wide lenses, from 8mm film all the way up to large format.

SONY BURANO v2 FIRMWARE + NEW OLPF

Sony dropped a major Burano update with improvements driven by user feedback.

For anyone wanting an upgrade from the FX6 — with higher-end codecs, new frame rates, and proper anamorphic tools — this update gives the Burano new life.

Our Buranos now feature the newly replaced optical low-pass filter, eliminating IR pollution issues.

Just like the Venice, on-screen display text no longer overlays your image.

Highlights:

Shoot S35 4:3 true anamorphic at 4.3K up to 60fps, with a new 1.8x desqueeze.

Record high speed FF crop 3.8K 16:9 up to 120fps, and S35 1.9K 16:9 up to 240fps.

Enable high image stabilization with any cinema lens in FF crop 6K.

Record 24fps in X-OCN 16:9, with proxy recording now supported at 24p.

Improved image quality, autofocus, and overall responsiveness.

This firmware finally brings the Burano into its own class — ready for prime time.

BLAZAR MANTIS 1.33X ANAMORPHICS

These compact and affordable full frame anamorphics have an innovation most closely associated with Vantage Film's Mini Hawks.

But unlike the Mini Hawks (hybrids built on spherical optics only) the Blazar primes are really anamorphic.

In addition to the cylindrical anamorphic elements, the Mantis sport a functional oval iris. What’s often dismissed as “anamorfake” is taken further, giving these 1.33x anamorphics the elongated bokeh look usually reserved for 2x glass.

When it comes to the 1.33X stretch, we should clarify that desqueezing at 1.4x in post feels more accurate and flattering to our eye.

The flares are warm and soft, blooming with pleasing complexity but never veering into harsh streaks. Close focus impresses too: 1.25 ft on the 25mm, 2.2 ft on the 75mm & 100mm.

For such small, fast, lightweight, full frame anamorphics, it's hard to ignore how good these look.
