Postal trucks sometimes travel across country - with no mail - after USPS cuts

Our EXCLUSIVE investigation airs tonight and shows that large postal trucks often leave the Nashville sorting facility empty in order to comply with scheduling mandates put in place by new Postmaster General Louis DeJoy. He will answer questions from members of the House Oversight and Reform committee today.

The postal service is paying for empty trucks to travel across the country as a result of newly implemented cost saving measures at the post office.

BREAKING! NewsChannel 5 Investigates has just confirmed a tenth nursing home resident has died from the COVID-19 outbreak at the Gallatin Center for Rehabilitation and Healing that infected at least 107 people.
We will continue to monitor this tragic situation and we will continue to seek answers about why no one sounded the alarm until we started asking questions nearly two weeks ago.

Another outbreak of COVID-19 at a TN nursing home!
44 new cases of Coronavirus have been confirmed at the Signature Health Care long term care facility in Cookeville. 28 patients and 16 staff members have tested positive for the virus after being tested on Tuesday. Putnam County has 37 confirmed cases but that is expected to more than double once the State Health Dept. adds in these new 44 cases.

Check out this emotional video filmed from her hospital bed. As the death toll climbed to 4 from the COVID-19 outbreak that infected 107 people at a Gallatin, TN nursing home, this infected health care worker from the facility wants to warn people that this virus is no joke.

An employee from the Gallatin nursing home at the center of a Covid 19 outbreak posted a video on Facebook from her hospital bed where she says she's tested positive for Coronavirus and is struggling to breathe.

BREAKING NEWS: State officials confirm an additional 59 residents and 33 staff members have tested positive for COVID-19 at the Gallatin Center for Rehabilitation and Health. Newschannel5 Investigates first broke the story of the outbreak last week and we reported earlier today that a 2nd resident has now passed away.
The infected staff members are isolating at home while the residents are in the process of being transferred to area medical facilities. Stay tuned to NC5 as we follow this developing situation.
UPDATE: Officials are telling us 107 total cases of COVID19 so far occurred at the nursing home. All residents are being moved out so the facility can be deep cleaned. Two residents have passed away since Sat morning. We continue to monitor the situation.

UPDATE: As of April 6th Sumner County has the 3rd highest total of COVID19 cases in the state behind Davidson and Shelby, and leads the state with 15 deaths.
Despite a "Safer at Home" executive order signed by Sumner County Executive Anthony Holt urging people to stay home, shoppers were out in droves at places like the Lowes' garden center in Gallatin on Sunday. The number of COVID-19 cases in the county stands at 92 but is expected to jump dramatically once about 50 new positive cases from a Gallatin nursing home are added in.

It's the first confirmed death related to the Coronavirus that we know of from the Gallatin Center for Rehabilitation & Healing. Homer Barr was a father and longtime firefighter in Gallatin. Sad Update: Nine residents of this facility have now passed away after becoming sick with COVID19. We have been able to confirm at least 107 cases tied to the facility between employees and residents.

A very surreal night as state and local health officials mobilized at a Gallatin nursing home to evacuate at least 19 residents who are showing symptoms of Coronavirus, 3 of whom have already tested positive. Newschannel5 Investigates first broke the story of the outbreak several days ago after learning as many as 8 employees at the Gallatin Center for Rehabilitation and Healing had either tested positive or were showing multiple symptoms. A very sad story.

The CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee abruptly resigned on Friday and the timing is raising a lot of questions.
