We are looking for quality story telling in all of our entries first and foremost, our judging is not based on the level of star, budget, or highest quality, rather the best indication of talent in filmmaking, music, or interactive presentation. We want to give independent creative people the opportunity to have their work seen by audiences. We do have special local categories and awards that highlight Southern films, music, and interactive content. This includes graphic opens and web series.
SIFF is excited to support local filmmakers in Nashville! The feature film, “Sight” is based on the inspiring true story of Dr. Ming Wang. The film chronicles Dr. Wang’s incredible journey from China to America, including his struggles with poverty and racial discrimination, and his pursuit to become a world-renowned eye surgeon who developed a new technology that has restored sight to millions. At the height of his success, Dr. Wang met a six-year-old orphan from India who had been intentionally blinded, and he was thrown into a tailspin in which he had to come face-to-face with his own traumatic past before he could help anyone in the present. Congratulations Dr. Ming Wang! Harvard & MIT (MD, magna cm laude); PhD (laser physics), is the co-founder of the Common Ground Network
and the Wang Foundation for Sight Restoration which has helped patients from over 40 states in the U.S. and 55 countries, with all sight restoration surgeries performed free-of-charge. Congratulations Dr. Ming Wang!

TIP OF THE WEEK
You don't need expensive equipment to make compelling projects. New phones are quite adequate to capture films. Hot tip-people won't tolerate poor audio, so invest in a good microphone if your phone doesn't have one. So remove obstacles and start with what you have available...
The important step is to take action, focus, create, love what you do, and the rest falls into place...roll the dice...take the chance...

One of our selected projects this year is the script "Made in America" a screenplay by Brendan Kelly. His team is working with the kids from Coachella Valley to continue and further develop our after school program to provide children who are interested in the performing arts the opportunity to develop the skill sets necessary for future careers in the entertainment industry.
They are a 501c3 non profit that has been active for a decade in fighting a war against drugs, gangs and apathy by keeping kids off the street and out of the system. Check out their work and consider a donation on "Giving Tuesday"

Congratulations to all the amazing creators that are part of the 2020 Film Festival! We are thrilled to showcase your work virtually and safely. There will not be an in person event at this time due to the pandemic, but we have some great events planned...
We apologize for delaying our announcement regarding the official selections of the festival, but due to the pandemic, we are having to change our format this year to ensure safety. We are dedicated to promoting artists and are planning to do a combination of live and virtual events. These program changes are a challenge and more time is needed to try and make it the best possible creative conference for all of you! Thank you for your patience!
Due to the current restrictions for public gathering as a result of the Pandemic, we have decided to postpone the festival to October 30th-Nov 1st in hopes that we can proceed. We are working hard to find alternate solutions. We have delayed the judging status notifications by two weeks due to the changes. Thanks for your patience while we work hard to be able to screen as many projects as possible, either safely in person, or virtually. We will keep you posted on the latest updates, but we are still planning the festival for 2020!

Southeastern International Film & Music Festival is committed to the health and safety of our attendees, volunteers, staff, and community. The widespread health concern about COVID-19 is a reminder of our connection to each other and the world, which is something we embrace, but for the first time in recent history, it can be a detriment to fighting the spread of this virus and all of us creating and supporting art. We are monitoring the situation closely and will follow all safety precautions to ensure wellness of all of our participants. We will continue to follow events unfolding to determine if we need to postpone the festival or find the best way to move forward to promote art, music, and film virtually, until we can reconvene. Our very best wishes to all of you during this challenging time!
This is Alyssa Trahan who played at the 2019 Film Festival in Nashville! If you can, help our local musicians during this challenging time, every bit counts!. She, like so many musicians are going to be "jobless" during the closure of events, show some support her for her online show! This seems like a great idea for other musicians too! We applaud Alyssa for going out and finding a way to try and make ends meet. Get it!
Alright guys, I got so many comments and messages asking me to do an online concert, so this Saturday 3/21 at 7pm central I’m gonna be doing a live online concert on StageIt in hopes of making up the lost income from show cancellations because of the coronavirus. I’ve lost thousands of $ and am anticipating losing even more. It’s open to everyone and tickets are “pay what you want”! I’ll be playing acoustically in my studio in Nashville and doing both originals and my favorite covers! There’s also an interactive chat room! 💙
