The Bark-elor:
The Viewing Party
The afternoon sun at the Central Bark Dog Park was golden and warm. Miss Coco York trotted across the grass, her red bow finally straight and her fur gleaming. Beside her were Hot Sauce, her former rival turned best friend, and Georgia, who looked much more relaxed now that she didn't have to worry about climbing mountains for a rose.
The three ladies found a sunny spot near the agility course and were soon approached by a colorful local crew:
King Karl: A massive, droopy-faced Bulldog with a surprisingly gentle bark.
Bluey: A high-energy Husky who seemed more interested in conversation than howling.
Toffee: A clever Corgi with a striking lookโone piercing blue eye and one warm brown eyeโwho seemed to see right through everyone's stories.
"You three look familiar," Bluey barked, tilting his head. "Wait... aren't you from that show? The one with the guy in the plaid hoodie?"
"Guilty," Hot Sauce huffed, though she wagged her tail. "But honestly, being disqualified for breaking a camera was the best thing that ever happened to me. No more group dates!"
"Weโve realized that a rose isn't worth the stress," Miss Coco York added, giving Georgia a friendly nudge. "In fact, weโve formed our own pack. No winners, no losersโjust friends."
Toffee tilted his head, his mismatched eyes sparkling. "A pack is always better than a podium. But I bet you girls have some stories the cameras didn't catch."
As the new friends played, Coco's gaze lingered on the horizon. While she laughed at Karl's jokes and listened to Toffee's observations, a small part of her heart felt a sharp tug. She remembered the way Gizmoโs ears perked up when she walked into a room.
She secretly wished she hadn't let the argument with Hot Sauce get so out of handโthat sheโd had just one more sunset with the boy in the plaid hoodie before the producers pulled the plug. To her, Gizmo was still the dream, and she couldn't help but feel that her journey was cut short before the real connection could bloom.
"Oh my goodness!" Coco barked, shaking off her melancholy and checking her gold-plated collar watch. "Itโs almost 6:00 PM. The final dates episode is starting!"
"We have to see if GiGi spills more milk," Georgia laughed.
The entire groupโthe three Bark-elor veterans and their new friendsโraced across the park and piled into Miss Coco's luxurious living room. They sprawled out on the plush velvet rugs, Bluey perching right on the arm of the sofa for the best view.
The TV hummed to life, showing Gizmo the GREAT looking confused on his final dates with GiGi and Missy.
"Look at his face!" Hot Sauce barked, pointing a paw at the screen as Gizmo tried to ignore the camera crew. "He looks so lost. He clearly misses our energy."
"He's a good boy," King Karl rumbled, leaning in. "But man, this is better than chasing my own tail."
Coco sat silently as the camera panned to Gizmoโs soulful eyes. She watched as Missy gave Gizmo a perfectly scripted nuzzle. To Coco, it looked like a beautiful, blossoming romance. She felt a pang of jealousy, wondering if Missy was truly the one who would finally share Gizmo's plaid-patterned world. Coco sighed softly, her tail giving a single, lonely thump against the rug. She was with friends, but as she watched Gizmo on the screen, she couldn't help but wonder "what if it had been me instead?"
