A NUTTY KNOCKOUT: Squirrel Triggers Massive Nashville Blackout! 🐿️⚡

A single squirrel caused a major power disruption Monday, leaving over 5,000 Nashville residents in the dark. The outage primarily impacted the Crieve Hall and Oak Hill areas after the animal interfered with equipment at a local substation.

Nashville Electric Service crews responded quickly to repair the damage and restore power within hours. It’s a wild reminder of how a small critter can unplug an entire community. ( WSMV )

🐶 Winston the Saint Bernard Helps Nashville Kids Find Their Reading Voice

Winston, a gentle four-year-old Saint Bernard, is transforming the literacy journey for local children through the Nashville Public Library’s "READing Paws" program. By visiting various branches monthly, Winston provides a calm, judgment-free audience for students to practice reading aloud.

This empathetic environment reduces anxiety and has shown measurable improvements in reading speed and confidence. The initiative offers a heartwarming, safe space where young Nashvillians can develop a lifelong love for books alongside a furry friend. 🐕❤️

🏛️⚡ Tennessee Lawmakers Push to Reshape NES Board After Winter Storm Fern!

Following Winter Storm Fern's devastating outages that left roughly 230,000 Nashville Electric Service customers without power -- some for nearly two weeks — Tennessee legislators introduced House Bill 2418/Senate Bill 2593.

The bill would require NES to add voting board members from each of the six surrounding counties it serves, breaking Nashville's exclusive appointment control. Sponsors say it ensures fair representation for all ratepayers regardless of city limits. 🌨️

⛽ Nashville Gas Prices Are Surging !

Nashville's average gas price hit $3.01 on Sunday, up from a December low of $2.58, after U.S. and Israel strikes on Iran triggered oil market fears. March 3 marked the biggest single-day price spike since 2022.

Oil climbed above $100 per barrel for the first time since 2022. While Nashville remains below the national average of $3.45, analysts warn that average could rise to $3.50 in coming weeks. 💸⛽

☀️ Nashville’s Record-Breaking March Heat

Nashville just recorded its warmest first week of March in history. Averaging 64.3°F from March 1–7, the city shattered the 1974 record by 1.3°F.

Driven by Gulf winds and trapped Canadian air, this historic heatwave saw multiple records fall before typical temperatures briefly returned. Warmth is expected to continue this week. 🌡️
