We're on the southern fringe of another area of continuous, heavy rain for tonight.

Heavy rainfall of 1-3” is expected overnight through Thursday morning, with the potential for locally higher amounts of 3-5”. Any areas that see heavy rainfall, especially in urban areas, poor drainage, and areas with recent heavy rain, will have an increased risk for flash flooding, especially towards the morning hours. A Flood watch is in effect.

Lotsa rain coming up this week as a stationary front sets up over the top of us. Rain chances pretty much every day for the rest of the week.

Active wet weather to continue through the rest of the work week, with daily chances of showers and storms. An isolated severe risk will be seen late this afternoon and evening across far southeast IA, northeast MO, and west central IL.

Hot again on Tuesday, but some relief from the heat is up ahead.

A dry Labor Day is in the cards with slightly above average temperatures and partly cloudy skies. Storms return to the forecast though for Tuesday into Wednesday morning as a cold front brings seasonable temperatures back late week.

Temperatures and humidity will increase into the weekend and early next week, which will come with occasional chances for scattered showers and storms. However, dry periods are likely and some areas may receive little to no rainfall through Sunday night.

Seasonable and dry conditions will continue through the end of the work week. By the weekend, warmer temperatures will begin moving back in as southerly flow returns. Rain is possible (20-40% chance) Saturday night and throughout the day on Sunday.

Wonderful weather will generally continue into mid week. Very weak disturbances in the flow aloft may or may not generate some isolated sprinkles or even a shower Monday and Tuesday, with chances increasing a bit more towards Wednesday. Heavy rain is not expected.
