The Neodesha Middle School and Neodesha High School dominated the Leon-Bluestem Lions this week. The middle school squad took the Thursday contest 50-0 while the high school squad traveled to Leon and spoiled their home opener with a 41-0 road win. Thursday night is opening night for the Bluestreak football season. The middle school leads off with a battle with the Pride of Leon-Bluestem. Kickoff is at 6PM. Friday night, Bluestreak Varsity Football makes the long road trip to Leon to also take on the Leon-Bluestem Lions. Kickoff at 7PM.

USD 461 Neodesha Schools invites the media to their Early Learning Center groundbreaking ceremony on
Wednesday, September 27 at 2:00 PM at the corner of Grant Street and N. 9th Street. USD 461 Neodesha Schools has taken on the crucial task of securing funding and constructing an Early Learning Center in Neodesha, KS for children from birth to age 5. The district recognizes the pressing need for reliable and accessible childcare services in the Neodesha Community. The groundbreaking ceremony is celebrating the physical beginning of the project as well as celebrating that this project is funded thanks to several large grants. Funding partners, contractors, architects, board members, and legislators will be on hand for remarks about the project. This event promises to be a moment of celebration for the Neodesha community.

The Neodesha Middle School Football/Volleyball squads open their season at home against Leon-Bluestem this Thursday. Football kickoff at 6PM at Bluestreak Stadium. Be watching for a breakdown of the football game. It will be in the Derrick next week. Come out and support the middle school squads in the home opener.

The Bluestreaks head to Leon to take on the Bluestem Lions next Friday night. The Lions are riding a long losing streak and looking to change their fortunes while the Streaks are trying to rebuild the Program behind New Coach West. Make the Drive to Leon and cheer on your Streaks. If you can't make it, watch for my article in the Wednesday issue of the Derrick. This week to come will be a break down of the Blue White Srimmage.
