Our first taste of summer will move into the area this week

Heat and humidity will build into the area next week as heat index values climb into the upper 90s and 100s. Furthermore, warm overnight temperatures in the 70s will provide little relief from the sustained hot and humid conditions. Take heat-related precautions if without cooling and/or hydration!

A sneaky threat of severe storms is in place with brief tornadoes being the main hazard with some gusty winds possible as well with any storms that can stay isolated

Numerous but rather disorganized pocket-sized showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout today and tonight. There is a Marginal (1 of 5) Risk that a few storms may become severe between 10 AM and 10 PM. The main hazards are wind gusts up to 60 mph and brief and/or weak tornadoes.

A flood watch has been issued until 1pm Monday due to persistent rain possibly leading to some flooding

Rain chances persist across the area today through Monday. Locally heavy rainfall–particularly on Sunday–will pose a risk for flash flooding. A Flood Watch has been issued for portions of the area valid 1 PM Sunday to 1 PM Monday.
