A view of Salute at sundown across the Grand Canal in Venice. Shot from the Academia bridge with a Canon 5DS, EF 24-105L lens.
There is a simple majesty to the canals and architecture on Venice that I find just magical - one of my favorite places in Italy.

City of Lights. City of Romance. Heart of France. There have been a myriad of nicknames for this city, each more telling than the next.I suppose it’s only fitting that The City of Lights should be a destination on this trip. As much as my wife kept saying “this is vacation, not your European Photo H...

The upper level of the private chapel in the Palace of Versailles in Paris. The size and opulence of the palace are incredible, as evidenced by the private amenities built songstress the royal family would not have to venture out amongst the 'normal folk'.

The colors of : absolutely amazing. Such a quaint "mini-Venice", quiet and classic, seemingly untouched by technology and the hustle & bustle of modern technology. The hues of the brightly painted houses reflected in the water are the stuff of dreams.

Happy Friday everyone! This one might be a little cliche, but I just couldn't help myself. It's never easy taking meaningful/stylistic photos in the middle of the day, so I counted this one as a win .

Happy memorial day - hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!
On this drizzly Monday I can't help but wish I was still in Venice - such a beautiful, picturesque city. Shot with a 5Ds, 24-105L lens.

Are you not entertained?!
The Colosseum in Rome. As the storm clouds roll in, the crowds slowly roll out. Perfect time to go in an and avoid the crazy crowds.

A view of a canal in Venice, with a lone gondolier waiting for a passenger. Taken on a lovely photo walk through the 'less travelled areas of the city. Special thanks to for showing us around - we saw a great number of places we would jeer have found otherwise!
Sorry for the long instagram hiatus - we were away for we Vera lol weeks, and then had a couple of medical emergencies to deal with (welcome home indeed) but it's good to be back!

The / 59th St bridge, taken from the side, near the hospital for special surgery. I went for a quick walk one evening while waiting for someone, and managed to grab this 20 second or so exposure without a tripod by we**ie myself between a lightpost and concrete barrier .

Edward James! Without question, one of the cutest little dudes I've ever seen. And I'm not biased at all..

It was my privilege last weekend to shoot maternity/family photos for the fine folks pictured here - these are just a couple of my personal favorites from their selects. Thanks so much for allowing me to capture some of the excitement of the countdown to your new addition!

Hope everyone is having a great ! This is one of a series of closeups I took of the amazing residents of the butterfly habitat at the aquarium in riverhead. I'm not typically a nature shooter per se, nor am I usually that enamored with butterflies, but there was a true calm and beauty to that place- walking amongst all the butterflies and having them land on you periodically was quite the experience.

Happy Friday everyone! This is one of my favorite shots of one of my favorite places: the lighthouse at Pemaquid Point in Maine. The way the bluffs disappear into the rushing surf, with the lighthouse regally perched above is nothing short of breathtaking. If you're lucky enough to catch a tidepool like the one seen here, the reflections of the sunset are entrancing.

A view of Manhattan Bridge from Brooklyn Bridge Park, with the Empire State Building shining bright. It was a cold night (and I had to abandon my first vantage point due to a woman loudly breaking up with her boyfriend over the phone while wildly gesticulating her way through my shot), but otherwise a successful one.
Shot with a Canon 5Ds, Canon 24-105L lens.

Interior of the old RKO Keith's Theater in Queens. This old movie palace is absolutely magnificent - there is a tangible, quiet elegance in its ruins. The room seen here was a smoking room outside the restrooms on the mezzanine level- so Pete with its own fireplace. My mind ran wild while I explored the place, imagining what it was like during Hollywood's golden age, an amazing era gone by.
Shot with a Canon 70d, Tamron 16-300 lens.

I know I shouldn't be surprised or phased by the cold (given the season), but despite my northern roots, I'm still not looking forward to the cold snap this weekend. I'd much rather wander around and shoot a field of sunflowers like this one. Taken on the North Fork last summer with a , 24-105L lens.

Aside from the beauty of the first rays of the sun peeking over the Atlantic horizon, there are plenty of other views to be had at Montauk Point. I love when the sun rises above the bluffs and bathes the easternmost point of the state in the first golden light of the day.

To me, the lighthouse at Montauk Point is such a strong symbol of Long Island. I have always been drawn to the shore, on both a photographic and personal level. Seascapes are one of my favorite things to photograph (as some of you may have noticed). This particular shot was taken from the outlying beachhead of Camp Hero on a cold, foggy morning with a less-than-stellar sunrise. Despite not having the usual characteristic beauty of dawn on the beach, I still love the mood of this photo- the power and vastness of the sea broken by the stalwart bluffs of the Point.

I finally sat down and finished processing some photos from a recent trip to over the weekend. Those of you that follow me know I'm a real sucker for a or , and never disappoints! This is a shot of the , taken from the bluffs to the southeast during . This shot with a , 24-105L lens.

Trying to kick-start this lazy Sunday by looking at some old sunrise photos. I've always been partial to this one from out by the in . An otherwise tranquil sea is broken by the single crest of surf in the rocks on the left side, as if trying to awaken life on the point.

Twin peaks. Not much to say about this NY icon. The sheer might of the never disappoints.

In anticipation of the impending snowstorm, and the cold snap that will hopefully pass us by relatively quickly. This frozen sled was found on the side of a garage in Maine, standing silent vigil over the blanket of snow coating the ground. Much as I love winter and snow sports, I couldn't help but think that the kids that left it behind for the warmth of indoors had the right idea. Taken with a Canon 70d, Tamron 10-24mm lens.

The churning of the Atlantic, reduced to a sheet of glass, broken only by the pilings leading to the Cross Sound Ferry dock in Orient Point. I love long black and white exposures like this. I got a little lucky on this one, as the ferry pulled into frame just a few moments after I completed this exposure. Shot with a Canon 70D, Tamron 16-300mm lens.
