Fear gets loud when the future feels uncertain...

Fear is real... that is.. fear is a "real" emotion.

But fear is not based on reality. It's a cocktail of worry, pain, failure, and rejection in your imagination.

So yeah... we feel fear before we ride sometimes, but what does God say about our fear?

The Bible states very often that we are to not put our trust in ourselves. In our emotions. In our past mistakes or failures.

God has plans for us... not to harm us, but for us to prosper in His will for our growth and success.

If we stay in THAT truth... ThAT certainty, then in those moments at the gate or before a race where our mind gets cloudy and that cocktail of fear starts bubbling to the surface, we will start to hear the voice of God reminding us that we are resting in His power, His strength, and His promises.

Hebrews 12:1-2

The unfortunate effect of focusing our hearts and minds on what we DON’T want to happen, is that we actually end up causing those things to happen.

As Christians, just as we read in these verses, is to focus on Jesus. As we grow closer to Him, we grow further from the sins, the fears, the doubts, the shame, and the overall habits we are worried about overcoming.

It seems like semantics. But it’s crucial.
