To manufacture inclusion and belonging, the best weapon is … words.

To create true inclusion and belonging, you must have the Word (outside of self).

So it’s not surprising that cults create their own language and verbal cues to mark their territory. Then they attack the personified Word, who is everything they want to be.

It’s a deep, dangerous, doomed game. Why do they play it?

Despair.

I’m going to weave concepts from this work into my own, not for notoriety, but because it fits. Every criminal organization has a code, and every cult weaponizes their code.

Maybe "Scrappy Books II" needs some focus on stacking promos. The fact that Vinny has managed this because of (a) demand and (b) efficiency without (c) costing an arm and a leg is GLORIOUS.

In the world of Christian literature, my book is like the bottom-left option for kids: SHARKS

Got some recent NetGalley feedback from a reviewer who somehow missed the fact that the book is about predators in churches. Never mind that the title has the word predators embedded, or that the cover shows a wolf looking over a flock of sheep. Nope, she “and the church” don’t need that in their lives.

Good luck with the sharks. They exist whether you like it - or not.

I began by skimming, and ended by reading deeply. Just thinking about the intersection of faith and failure, loss and love, quiet perseverance versus loud recognition….all of these things take time to develop. I’ve now transitioned to a fan of this author’s work. Kudos for character development over becoming a ‘character’.
