I’m convinced that we are always navigating change. You are evolving and the world around us is evolving. The key to staying on top professionally and personally is to know who you are, what you desire, and stay open to diverse ways to succeed.

So I’ll talk about those things.

And you’ll get a peek behind the scenes on my book writing, entrepreneurship, the podcast and occasional pics of my puppy Rey, the best writing companion I know. :)

475!! That’s how many academics registered for our planning webinar yesterday. Thank you to everyone who attended and engaged in great discussion. Thank you to my partners at American Anthropological Association and SREB-State Doctoral Scholars Program who supported this training webinar.

If you’re struggling to find your way in grad school or your postdoc program, this is the tool for you. ⁣

Like Priscilla, I was a first generation PhD student. I managed to win over $100k in fellowships, publish articles, and present at conferences while making space for a new hobby: painting on canvas. I wasn’t special. I had great mentorship, friends and family who believed in me, and a system for getting the hard stuff done. ⁣

I want you to succeed too. ⁣

That’s why I’m hosting a semester planning workshop. Join me next week for “How to Stay on Track, Meet Your Deadlines, and Have a Life while in the Academy.”⁣

I’ll share strategies from the Professional Pathways Planner. I will show you how to:⁣
1. Determine your vision for the year that will guide your decision-making and priority management when the semester gets hectic. ⁣
2. Identify your Top Three Priorities for the semester. ⁣
3. Create Action Plans for your top goals and track milestones, collaborators, reviewers, and time on task until your project is complete.⁣
4. Take back your week and enjoy your Mondays, by learning and using a weekly planning method that takes 60 minutes or less each week. ⁣

And I’m giving away my Weekly Planning Toolkit to everyone who registers. Join me and about 100 others who’ve already RSVP’d. Click link now to register.

Just hanging out in my Mom’s sewing studio, cutting patterns. She is my first example of entrepreneurship and creativity. She taught me how to sew, sketch and paint. It’s a great balance to the reading, writing and other left brain work I do everyday. How do you bring balance to your weekly activities?

I’ve been dreaming up and working on a new podcast for weeks now. Today was my personal deadline for launch. Tonight I got text #1 from while I was eating Ben & Jerry’s 🍨 and watching the Golden Girls 👵🏼 Her text lit a fire under me to make the last push to bring this project to life. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
🗣I recorded my first few episodes weeks ago but needed to write copy and figure out how to publish them.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
reminded me of her DNP method (Done Not Perfect) to end perfectionism and do the daggone thing. ⁣I published the first two episodes of GradSchooled tonight. ⁣⁣⁣
▫️I’ll still have to wait up to 10 days for approval from iTunes before it’s listed with Apple Podcasts. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
▫️I haven’t created my social media posts yet to share that it’s live. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
▫️I had a project plan to get this done but this was a messy process. I recorded some episodes in hotel rooms between speaking engagements and others in my bathroom, the only quiet place I could get away from my dog’s barking. 🤷🏽‍♀️🐶⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
Accountability from my girls, my purpose partners is what helped me move this project forward. Will power, self discipline and even a strong desire to see it finished are not enough. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
I’ll be teaching about how to add accountability to your goal setting on a free webinar later this month. // Register now.

💃🏽Yup, that’s my happy dance emoji. ⁣

This clinical faculty member is sharing how she’s using the Professional Pathways Planner to organize quarterly/semester milestones on a large 5 year grant she manages.⁣

Her Action Plan page is a snapshot of the first several steps to implementing her goal. Before she sat down to plan her semester, her ideas were swirling around her head as nagging TO DOs and floating around scrap paper and Post It notes. With the Professional Pathways Planner and 90 minutes, she now knows what to focus on this semester, what colleagues and students to involve in her project, and what resources she needs to make it happen. ⁣

I designed this Planner to help academics at all stages have one place to plan and track professional and personal semester milestones. Rather than spin your wheels about what you didn’t get done or how busy you are, I want to help you make progress and enjoy the journey. ⁣

This clinician and professor will definitely be enjoying her Labor Day Weekend now that her semester plan is in place. 🤸🏽‍♀️ (that’s her enjoying the weekend 😂)

Thank you, University of Wisconsin- Madison!

Over 100 new graduate students showed up for my workshop on How to Start Strong & Stay on Track.

☑️ We discusses why time management alone is not enough to manage all your priorities.
☑️Why I’m teaching more about progress as a metric of success rather than productivity.
☑️I shared my Top 3s strategy to help them make choices and say no when projects are not aligned with their goals.
☑️They created semester plans using the Professional Pathways Planner, my new resource to help you save time, prioritize what matters and have a life.
