Sandwich Bread
Freshly baked bread at home made simple! This no-knead sandwich bread is perfect for sandwiches or toast.
Ingredients:
- 1 ยฝ cups (360ml) warm water
- 3 ยฝ cups (440g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 packet (2 ยผ teaspoons) instant yeast
Instructions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy, indicating the yeast is activated.
2. Add the all-purpose flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until just combined. The dough will be sticky and shaggy, which is perfectly fine.
3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel. Let the dough rise at room temperature for about 12-18 hours. It should double in size and have a bubbly surface.
4. Once the dough has risen, lightly flour a clean surface and gently turn out the dough. With floured hands, shape it into a round loaf without kneading.
5. Place the shaped loaf on a piece of parchment paper. Cover it with a kitchen towel and let it rise for another 1-2 hours until puffy.
6. Preheat the oven to 450ยฐF (230ยฐC). Place a Dutch oven or heavy pot with a lid inside to heat for about 30 minutes.
7. Carefully remove the hot pot from the oven. Lift the parchment paper with the dough and transfer it into the pot. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
8. After 30 minutes, remove the lid and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
9. Once baked, transfer the bread to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Nutritional Information: Each slice of bread contains approximately 120 calories, 4g protein, 24g carbohydrates, 1g fiber, and 0.5g fat.
